Broken computer and idiot friend.

Argh. I had a friend over. He said he wanted to check his email. Tells me my computer is frozen. When he restarts, it gets to windows with, but freezes again. I tell him. Don't touch it, I'll take a look at it later and leave the room.

When I come back it turns out I must of been speaking greek, because "Don't touch" must have sounded like, keep hitting the reset button for five minutes, and unplug, plug in. and keep reseting.

"Your computer is making a funny sound now".

Thanks dumbass.

Now the computer won't even go past the boot screen without making some freaky ass sounds and restarting. Not sure if it's related, but I'm pretty sure it didn't help.

no shit, i dont let any of my friends near my computer.

maybe when i get into the child porn business, i'll let them touch the keyboard for finger print purposes then switch it out later.

But I'm not 60 yet, so I lock my computer room when I have people over, unless we're spinning records.

Good call on the Jim accusation. I would've guessed him to but I think i was there when his friend was killing his computer. If it was that guy, total idiot.

nah man jims pretty solid,at least everytime we've shared a drink or two.

dont really see him as the sort to fucking spin around in chairs or ignore a friends request.

i do see him yelling and slurring in my passenger seat to a cop in the middle of a road block after drunken bowling though.

anyway,

i,along with alot of my friends, have huge fucking systems,studio gear,cables blah blah blah and i dont let ANYONE near it less they know what they are doing.

im the same protective way with my tools and cameras.

I have a friend like this. Unfortunately she is my best friend so she gets more then three strikes.
So far she has blown up a plate in my kitchen, put popcorn in the microwave for 22 minutes, and broken numerous parts in my car. (It's still a mystery how though.) She just touches things and they destruct.

I just always seem to be in the other room or looking the other way when I hear "oh no!".
I know how you feel, you just want to deal out a good boot fucking.

That friend needs a tiny Puppy Linux installation on a P1 computer at 233MHz with a 15 GB hard drive, 10mbp NIC, 4x CDROM and 128MB ram. This is an essentially trivial matter and would be worth every penny of the $150 for it.

At home nobody gets to use my HP e-Vectra; if they have to use a computer, I have a 700 MHz P2 tower with 512MB and a AGPx2 Matrox card but a 12GB HD and a crappy Intel MB running XP slowly. Even with XP it is slower than my HP.

No, it's not nuts to give away a crappy computer with Linux on it. Think of it as a loaner until he fixes his computer.
