is this a cold or the flu?

Sunday I had a high fever, so I slept it off.
I slept off Monday too.
Tuesday I had to cancel visiting my friend in Victoria cos of it but the fever subsided.

Now I have coughing with unproductive results, clogged sinuses that I can blow out easily, and the usual ache and pain associated with infection.

I don't have the nausea, vomitting and diarrhea.

Is this a "head cold"?

The only complaint I have is I am ravenous most of the time, and very thirsty. I polished off 4 cans of pop in the last 48 hours.

Quite obviously, whoever passed on this rhinovirus to me mutated it into something that could affect me. I wonder who I should cough in front of at work on Saturday? The lead singer? My supervisor? Some homeless dude panning?

Doctors hate is when you diagnose yourself on the internet. I do it all the time, I just go see my Doc for a second opinion.

What you have sounds like a cold. The Flu is a 1000 times worse in comparison. Mucus. lots and lots of mucus.

If you think polishing off 4 cans of pop in a period of two days is an indication of unusual thirst then you probably don't drink very much fluids in a day to begin with.

If you think thirst is unusual even with a fever (considering you are probably sweating out most of your bodily fluids and are somewhat dehydrated) where is your common sense?

At least your body is telling you what you likely need. When I get sick, I don't WANT to drink water and have to force myself.

ok, it's the cold, and just being out 4 hours rose my temperature, so i had to sleep it off.

ok i have insomnia now, but have been drinking the water and knocking back the Halls and Ricola candy.

the coughing went away after a good sleep, but sometimes I wanna cough.

Not necessarily. Doctors like patients that are well-learned about their symptoms. However, what doctors dislike is people who ignore what they have to say because of something they read on the internet. Or hypochondriacs that claim they have every disease they've stumbled across online. But those existed before the internet too.
