qft. Personally I think being able to maintain a good conversation is one of the major selling points of a good hairdresser.

I love to talk, in the form of a conversation, which involves questions and answers. This was more of a running monologue of her life story with the occasional "mm hm" from me.

I side with you in the sense that a hairdresser should notice if their customer is talkative with them, or seems to not be interested in chatting. Pretty easy thing to figure out after about 3 minutes IMO

true, but keep in mind that in any service industry you still have to take into account your customer's comfort, or they'll go find someone else.
