^you're still generalizing though. making racial comments among friends in a joking manner doesn't make you a racist, i do that all the time too. But when you talk about asians and refer to them as 'they', you're lumping them all into one group becuase of a few bad experiences with a few random people who happen to be asian. that's racist, catch my drift?

I've been to the UK, where there aren't as many 'parties' and many more 'club night' types of activities, and something I noticed there is that there are a lot more older peeps out and about. Someone raised there who came to a North American party might be taken aback at the number of youths in attendance, wondering where all these flailing teeny-boppers, scarcely out of puberty, have come from.

All in all I've never had any real problems with any of the asian 'cliques'. Yeah, I've gotten dirty looks when I dance next to them and its crowded and they think I've invaded their space, but so what? I've gotten the same looks from every race under the sun at some point in time - just what happens sometimes when you accidently invade a person's little 'world of flail' when its crowded.

Yeah, maybe they could make more of an effort, but so could we. Yeah, we're all there to dance and enjoy the music...so what? If I go to see a movie I don't think I have to chat with everyone around me because of the 'shared experience'...at a party most of the peeps I chat with are those and I know and those they've introduced me to (but mebbe that's cuz I'm a bit shy).

Just accept it as part of the 'Vancouver Massive' experience, cuz they don't generally harm anyone and, truth be told, without this large demographic buying up tickets for these events, massives would likely shrivel up and die here (for the most part), cuz promoters need these people's support just as much as they need support from candy kids, junglists, etc. And if you really find its not to your taste, either stay in Seattle or check out some smaller, more underground Van events.

Yeah main room at plazas been shit for the last 2 years or so and I dont care what any of you people say, from personal experience the vast majority of the people in there are inconsiderate, unfriendly and just plain rude.

What words you use DOES make a difference. If you say "all asians do this" then you are referring to.. ALL ASIAN PEOPLE. If you say "a lot of asian do this" Then you are only referring to some asians, not all. It does make a difference.

You were being racist in your first post. If you choose to be racist between you and your friends, then whatever, that's your choice. But you can't come on here saying the same types of things to EVERYONE and expect us to not take it all seriously and not think your being racist.

When u post on a public messge board with a topic that says "this isnt racist i hope..." u have already put the idea in our heads that it is racist. Its simple human psychology. So we are reading this with the thought that it is racist already in our heads, then u go and sterotype a large number of ppl based on their skin colour.

If i was to make a post stating that all Americans dance the same and flail all over the place, and at one seattle party some american hit me while dancing and then all his friends gave me a dirty look so therefore all americans suck. (for the record i'm not saying this si true) you would get mighty pissed off to. Just like in th thread "stupied amreicans" ur getting all mad in that thead.

When u post on a message board u have ti be careful with the words u use, because we cannot tell emotion, or tone of voice or n e thing. So the only thing we have to base our responses on are the words that u chose to use.

okay this is a good place for me to just flame away..

i hate the generalization for all asians that we all act the same, have the accent, all smart, are all rich and live and breath china's air. i get racist comments thrown at me daily and ive learned to laugh them off..but theres a point where enough is enough and people just dont get the point. even though its just a friend whos cracking a joke. hmmm example a few weeks ago i went to milestone with a few friends and there was a group of older asian people the table near by and one of my friend stopped a convo and thought it was funny to ask me if i was related to the people at the table, just cuz i was asian. wtf... okay being asian makes me special. im proud of my skin color and my long black hair, but it doesn't mean i should stand out from the rest of the races. In vancouver a lot of racist situations are directed towards asians..just because of the large population of us. ackz. im canadianized and have a balance of asian and non asian friends.

hongers (ppl who live here, but live a hong kong life) do annoy me..and i have one as a sister, but i do take things in consideration such that she grew up there and was raised in that environment.

in conclusion i just want to make it nice and clear that if your one of those friends who likes to throw a lil racist joke here and there.. there is a line and dont cross it. hell, i even make fun of asians sometimes.. just the way hongers are loud and rowdy and "not able" to drive. but when enough is enough..please stop because you never know whos listening and it can offend someone deep inside.

Nope, we dont let any gang related anything have any effect on how we act, our gang problem has calmed alot here, people have settled there doifferences and started working together. But if a gang related person wants to come here and try to come up as a power in the community let them try, they wouldnt last more than a few weeks here, here if the justice system doesnt take care of it the community does.

And maybe what i dealt with was Hongers, never heard that term but they deffinatly acted as though they were better, so an apology, not all people maybe just the huge ass group of tattooed people that i was dancing near had an issue, they did seem to stand out from the rest and carry themselves way to high for how high they actually were,while acting as though they were gonna kill me, whatever peace out sorry peepz maybe i made the wrong generalization.
