second languages are hard!

I've found I've held on to enough of my portuguese to carry my own overseas.

Spanish on the otherhand I've found a lot more difficult to retain.

I get by with my french. never really practice it though. i just listen to french hip hop sometimes.

working on learning japanese. i've almost got the 2 main alphabets down. i'm gonna forget about kanji for now. that shit is fucking BEYOND me.

with the amount of french I took throughout elementary and highschool I can carry on a ok conversation with a parisian.

the quebecois are a whole other ball game.

I don't unserstand people from Quebexico. I'm Franco-Ontarian french. Its slightly closer to the proper thing.

This French Girl I met last Week visited Montreal and said that they're horrible People and she hated the way they spoke French.

I hate the Quebecois about as much as I hate the dutch.

I can speak basic German and Japanese. German from schooling and Japanese from all the damn media I have.

Learning any language is hard. I can speak decently in french and carry on a conversation

I want to learn Russian, Japanese and spanish

I can speak a good amount of Japanese. Definitely enough to carry a conversation over the phone. If you are learning a second language you will find speaking to someone you can not see someone difficult..try it. I found out the hard way when i had to contact my cable company and mail courier in Japan.

^yeah tell me about it. I have a french-speaking friend. We speak alot of french when we're together but I just cannot do it on the phone. We only talk on the phone to make quick plans now, and even that's a struggle. I can't understand his French and he can't understand my English.

I can speak read and write fluent Arabic. Ive been learning it since I was like a little kid. I guess its easier to learn and pick up a second language when your younger.

Yeh i wish my dad had taught me cantonese when i was a little one but no such luck.

I can speak basic Italian. Talk about my day, make plans and have small talk. It's much harder to continue the conversation without stoping to think about what you want to say.
