Second Languages become easier the more you practice them. I chat in German on ICQ with people from Austra, Switzerland and Germany so I don't forget it and I can carry on conversations for hours. :) Aber daß ist wie Deutsch ist so einfach!

uggghh hella annoying. if you can't speak the language up to par, people automatically assume you're stupid alot of the time. its pretty frustrating.

ya if you even know a little bit of french then spanish will be soooooo much fun and yes i said fun! there are so fewer exceptions and that is what screwed me up with french.

lithe: doesn't chinese have like 7 different alphabets?!?!?!?!? ok so learning a new language is hard. getting the pronounciation is hard. forming simple senteces is hard. now you are wanting to throw in at least 6 other ways of spelling?!?! you got some balls and all the power to you!

defintiely agree second languages are hard to learn....my japanese is slowly comin along. It definitely helps when a person is completely immersed in the language and culture tho.

If you found french easy to learn, you many also find ASL (American Sign Language) easy to learn. It follows a similar sentence structure. It's a lot of fun, but if you don't get to use it on a regular basis, it's totally useless. Also, progressing beyond a basic level (I'm prolly basic+) is also a wasted effort if you're not using all that vocab on a regular basis. I use it every summer, and a little in between, but i've been using it for a number of years, so I've got decent retension.

yeah, they're hard.

i will start learning (to learn?) another language soon, just don't know which one yet. tried to get into dutch, it's "similar" to german, but uhh...guess it's gonna be spanish, it's a world language after all...any spanish speakers here? and i should seriously refresh my french, it's gotten so sucky it's scary!

sigh :(

A great way to learn another language is to watch fun t.v. shows in the language you're trying to learn..

I speak Japanese fluently as it is, but over the summer, renting Japanese dramas made tweaking my Japanese so much more fun. It didn't feel like a learning process, I was just absorbing it naturally and having fun while at it.

^ When I was learning German I listened to a lot of German Music and it helped a lot especially with colloquial terms.
