I tried a non-ipod hard drive mp3 player once.

Never again.

The scroll wheel is awesome (and not available anywhere else) and honestly, it's not that differently priced to competitors. Most of the cheaper ones break quicker.

Next one I'm getting is an ipod.

I have a creative labs MPIO mp3 player. had it for 2 years already and it still works excellently. awesome device. fuck those ipods.
