When I worked in retail I had a simple rule.

I don't care if you steal from my store. Just don't do it on my shift. That includes "Times I'm in the store with you and I'm not working."

That simple. It's not a matter of being a fucking tattle tale. If there's video footage of you observing a guy taking some shit and you turn a blind eye, congratz, you're fired.

Plus a lot of places offer bonus incentives for catching five-finger discounters.

I never stole myself, but a couple of my friends in my department would. One ended up getting busted for taking money out of the till in front of a camera and putting it in his pocket. I caught a couple of shoplifters when I worked for Canuck Tire. Never felt bad about it, because fuck... that is what my goddamn job is.

The way I see it, if a friend told me they five-fingered something from stupidstore and then I reported them to the store, that would be being a tattle. But reporting someone while you're on a shift... fuck, that's doing your job.

BTW, I hate superstore's facial hair policy. It's actually one of the main reasons I decided to leave. No hair below the lips. Which is completely bunk. Means that you have a buncha guys with pedophile moustaches but the second someone wants to have a fu manchu, soul patch or goatee that looks real good... BUZZZZZZZZZZ! Sorry, not allowed. Fucking union.

Though, the signing bonus they gave me last summer when we renewed our union contract let me go to Shambhala. That was nice.

Yea Superstore is pretty harsh like that, I worked there for almost a year, Union... this guy in my dept. had his hair died really bright blonde and because it was "unnatural" and they wrote him up, n this other guy had a big earring like a bigger gauge, n he got wrote up for that, such an annoying store...
But the union is nice because its hard for them to fire you, we had employees steal from our dept. and it took them months to be able to finally fire them!

You think that's bad??? Let me tell you a story of when I worked as undercover security.

I was working undercover at the Safeway in Royal City Centre in New West and the company that did the deposits for Safeway was picking up the night's cash that was headed for the bank. There was $25,000 in that bag.

As the guard was on his way out the door a guy walked out from the side of the building and tasered the guard. I ran after the thief and caught him. Punched him 6 or 8 times before he managed to taser my ass. I'm convulsing on the pavement but the thief had dropped the bag and high tailed it because a mall security guard and some other people had started running at him.

After all the dust has settled and I've been attended to by paramedics to make sure I'm ok I get to head home a bit early. Next day I get called into I-Corp's head office. I go in expecting to hear 'job well done' and end up getting 'You shouldn't have chased this guy as it's against company policy and you'll be receiving a 7-day suspension for your actions'

I SAVED YOUR FUCKING CLIENT $25,00 AND I GOT FUCKING TASERED!!!!!!!!! I quit that crap job right then and there. How's that for a fucking than you huh???

Superstore sucks.I worked there for almost a month.. i just quit there like a few days ago. They fucked up my direct deposit and when i got to the bottom of it , they ragged on me for speakin up about getting payed. Total fuckin dickwads, glad im done with that scene.

superstore is notorious for fucking up the first checks... me and everyone I know that worked there had to fight for their money the first 6-8 weeks

i've been a cashier there for 2 years and i dont find it that bad... really flexible with schedules and i usually get to leave early if i ask.

the only fuckups i've had with pay is when they overpay me lol
