you should try smoking pot when you get a craving. It worked for me when i was sick earlier this week. I went 5 days without cigarettes. It didnt even phase me.
The pot also helps you cut back on cigarettes if your not trying to quit altogether. When i am at home i usually dont even smoke cigarettes at all; I usually only smoke if i go to work, downtown or out socializing. Last edited by -evil-duerr-; Nov 10, 05 at 10:18 PM. |

Too be honest i dont know what a person should do in that case. Me, if i quit cigarettes i smoke more pot. if i quit pot i smoke more cigarettes.. Drink lots of water? Exercise? im sure you've heard the usual "kick the nic" checklist, so i'll spare you that. but best of luck anyways, its a tough game. Last edited by -evil-duerr-; Nov 10, 05 at 10:30 PM. |

mmm....exercise lots, chew gum :) occupy yourself. its hard, i know, but its do-able.
also, i think its ok if you break down once in a while. shit happens. as long as a once in a while thing doesnt turn into once a month...once a week, and so on. anyway, good luck on quitting :) |

erin think of that moment about 18 months ago when you and mikey came up to my front porch and i collapsed.
i dont have any understanding of addiction really (except for art) but i think that 95% of the battle is the mental addiction rather then physical. and i dont think that things like excercise and chewing gum will neccessarily help, but a memory or a moment might. the next time you buy a pack, think of that day. |

I love smoking so much....its almost my 11th finger...
But I havnt had one in a month and a half...Thats the longest in 4 years... basically whats helped is being crazy busy...I'm taking four class this semster and i worked 4 days a week so i just couldnt feel like shit all the time being so occupied... smoking does make me feel like shit...but i still want one all the time... I think i have it beat though because when ive gone out in drinking gatherings and still didnt smoke and that usually were you break... my advise is no not quit smoking until your are really really commited....i just hate being disapointed all the time.. but good luck |

You probably just need someone like this to motivate you to quit...

do anything and everything. Some of the suggestions that people have given you above would work, like keeping busy, keeping yourself occupied. One of my mom's friends who tried to quit smoking would drink coffee when she had a craving. I know it seems like it's replacing one drug with another, but it works. As far as any other options, you should try the patch, that also works. Also, get yourself into a situation where you want to quit mentally, essentially it's all about if YOU want to quit, no matter how much you love it. If you have a pack of cigarettes, throw them in the toilet and flush them down the drain. Not having temptation there will help you. There are plenty of options out there, but you have to be the one to make the step and do it, not just say you are going to
