They are giving a compromise Febuary election if the liberals give up and agree, or if they don't a no confidence vote on Tuesay.

sucking harper's dick? what the hell are you talking about?

ugh, learn before speaking.

layton has been supporting the liberal government in the house of commons for months. he was one of the main reasons why there wasn't an election in the summer. he's an opposition party...calling an election is going to happen at some point.

I don't think so man.....

The fact that Layton decided to sidle up to Harper and Duceppe would hardly be categorized as dick sucking. All they want to do is force an election to get the minority Liberal gov't out of power. From the stand point of all the opposition parties, they've lost confidence in this gov't and for the most part so have a lot of Canadian citizens.

The NDP is on the comeback trail and more than likley view this as a chance to gain even more seats in parliament. Can you blame him?

Canada is so split up politically right now that I honestly don't think we'll have a majority gov't anytime soon.

Whatever, I know where my vote goes so I'm hoping my party of choice gets a little further ahead come this February. :)

jack layton has got to stop holding his hand like he's gripping an imaginary coffee cup. love the party, hate the hand.

personally i think it is the right time to have an election, there's too much suspicion and conflict in the government for anything of importance to get passed, especially when one party [liberals: heh no names mentioned..] have obviously been delaying the election for quite some time, everyone knew it would come. where's the "f-u" for the PM at?

There's a big difference between not caring and being uneducated. The fact that all you can say about politicians is that they're 'money hungry bastards' tells me that more so than anything else, you don't know anything about the politicians themselves or their parties.

Trust me, if you took the time to educate yourself you'd care a lot more about who ran your country.

honestly... most opinion polls have the same stats as they did last election so its kinda pointless... I seriously think that its going to be a liberal miniority gov't again... and if its a conservative miniority gov't, its going to breakdown in a blink...

Like I said.... I think we're so divided in this country politically that we're going to be putting up with minority gov'ts for a while.

that'd be awesome if everyone lost so much faith in these four parties that everyone just voted green... total landslide...

I agree it can be boring... I mean what's exciting about budgeting and 'tax dollars at work'.

The thing is, as you get older you'll find that as boring as it is you still want to know what's going on. How old are you right now? 20 or so? When you get older and have more to care about like buying a home, sending your kids to school, medical for yourself and your children etc. you might have a different attitude.

When I was younger I was fairly indifferent to politics too.... not so much over the past 8 yrs or so.... now I have a kid to worry about, I have a home, I have to worry about affordable health care, I have to worry about the economy and keeping myself in a decent job. LOTS OF WORRIES!

I don't see that happening anytime soon Liam. Personally, while I support a lot of the Green Party's environmental policies in their platform I find that there's not enough focus on other issues that seriously need to be addressed by our gov't.

They do have some focus on other issues and if they expanded on it I'd have a little more faith in them. There's more to politics than fresh air and green space you know what I mean? They're definitely headed in the right direction IMO.

forcing a country who doesn't want to go to an election to vote is not necessarily a good idea, and will unlikely dramatically reshape things in parlaiment.

good job layton! getting this election to happen because of your own dirty political games is going to cost millions of dollars that will never go near healthcare! braaavo!

There's actually more reasoning to my following than that. I only worked with that Liberal think-tank to add some Conservative views. My main problem with Canadian Politics is that I'm socially Centre and with everything else rather Right Wing. The Social Policies of the Conservative Party suit most of my needs except for their rampant Christan anti-anythingfun-ness. Then there's the Liberals... I wouldn't trust them to walk my Dog around the block without losing it and charging Taxpayers $8,000,000 to find the damn thing. So it's quite the conundrum. The BC Unity Party was good in the last Provincial Election, too bad I think they folded.

P.S. Any Party willing to toss money at the Queens Own Rifles is worth my vote. As I'm hoping to put in my application soon if it meshes with my Work Schedule.

Yeah, the libs sure have a huge millitary agenda, seeing as how there are so many canadians fighting in iraq right now.

Maybe you're mixing up the libs with the conservative alliance?
