Its all about who you're friend's with and the people you hang out with. Surrey isn't all full of messed up people. Every city has its problems.
I went to White Pine last weekend and met a few people from Coquitlam we chilled for abit, smoked a phat j. Then I asked them where they were from and they said Coquitlam, just when I said I'm from Surrey they started hating on Surrey. Calling it a cracked out/whore city, lol. Like Whally is like that, but not all of Surrey is the same. People need to realize all cities have their problems, its not just Surrey. I guess people just make fun of Surrey to feel better about themselves. Just because your from Coquitlam doesn't mean you're better than someone that's from Surrey. I lived in Coquitlam, its a boring city and what's with all the metro sexual persians running around the malls there. No offence but in Surrey they'd get their ass kicked for looking like a bunch of fags.

Surrey... oh man...
Can't really say I miss living there. Newton wasn't too bad until the last couple years I was there. But so convenient, I could walk to the Ozone, 2 Beer and Wine Stores, Safeway and all that.

Going to bars..and guys try to fight you.."im from surrey what..we roll deep out here so watch your self"...What the fuck is tht susposed to mean..that you are a pussy and cant finght on your own..I dont know..but what ever..Perfict exmple..my frist weekend I moved down here I went to a bar in surrey an dsome dude was mouting me all night..I was likle fuck of buddy I aint here to fight..then after the bar was closed..was waithing for my friend to comer outside..and buddy runs up and punches me in the back of the head..what kind of bitch punches you in the back head..need less to say I ended up in jail fo rthe rest of the night and a good part of the next day..untill I got him to drop the charges.. But yes this will happen all citys and all citys have their problems..but hey Surrey is know what it is known for because of most of the poeple dont mind how they live out there. It's their choice I guess and their fault it is the way it is there.

A couple of things.
Surrey is disgusting to alot of you. Its unfortunate that our transit system takes you to an area of surrey thats been plagued with addiction and crime for years but do you think that its the same everywhere in Surrey? Imagine what it would be like for us here in surrey to take a train that drops us off at main and hastings. Now imagine that in order to get to robson and granville we would have to take a bus that passed through every bad area of E. Van there is. I'm guessing we would have alot to base our opinion of Vancouverites on. I can say with confidence that the only time I have been put in uncomfortable situations with homeless people, or drug addicts, or drug dealers in the last year, is when I go to Vancouver. Wether it be someone talking back to me b/c I won't give them money, or someone threatening me b/c I bumped them at a club, its all been in Vancouver(maybe by surryites but give that to me anyway). Anyways, I can't really speak for the skytrain stations or bus routes b/c I avoid them wether in surrey, coq, or Vancouver. I think another thing to keep in mind is the social situations you're in when you make these judgements. I bet 90% of the time you're at a rave, or at a bus loop, or at a club. Well Ravers are trash no matter what city there from. Were talking about a tiny percentage of the general population that are pretty much guaranteed to have something wrong with them in the first place (why else do people start going to raves) Not to mention that a rave is transit friendly and theres not a whole lot of barriers for trash to overcome in order to buy a ticket. On the transit tip. people in Vancouver can afford cars but take transit b/c it easier. People in Surrey take transit when they can't afford a car. So mix the two and you have middle class vancouverites stuck on a 50 passenger loser user with lower class surrey teenagers. Clubs? Well your bound to find all sorts of people at places like that. Wether in surrey, or vancouver you will meet scum from both sides of the map. What about the news? Everytime i see the 6 o clock i have to witness a grueling interview with some surrey resident talking about the shooting in her neighborhood. Unfortunately shes jsut as scummy as the killer and its her representing Surrey. You guys are lucky to have beautiful 600,000 apartments that are directly on top of garbage heaps. The first person that is interviewed about a shooting in Gastown is usually some highclass motherfucker who can afford to live over top all the shit that goes on there. What about the real gastown residents? the ones that actually hear the shootings? you know dumpster number 90855? Anyways carlos' orignal thread was funny and I have to agree with most of his points especially the night life and the preghoes. Something else I find funny is the death of exco. It seemed to die off alongside its inspiration; Ecko unlimited. Those dudes that wore exco are laughing now. "Shit man I didnt even have to spend 50 bucks on a ecko t shirt. Its out of style now anyway. Time to hang this shit up on my wall! Surrey out"

ok ok we all know being from Surrey doesn't make you a bad person, and not all of Surrey is like Whalley, but come on.
I lived there for awhile and I work there every day. Stereotypes exist because they are rooted in truth. This thread was started by someone who lives in surrey with the purpose of having a laugh. You can't say nothing about surrey bugs you. My favorites: -customers who come in my store and basically tell me they're drug dealers. I mean, do you think I'm that stupid I won't get the hints, or do you want me to know for some reason? -everything looks the same once you get into residential areas....it's so easy to get lost -it's really far away from the city -nobody in whalley likes to use the crosswalk, so you've always got crackheads darting in front of your car on the way to the bridge -getting "cruised" by creepy men while walking down the street in the middle of the day. Just because I'm walking does not make me a hooker.

Yeah I agree with alot of those points and I was addressing the other posts within the thread not los' thread. What he said rings true. But he lives in whalley if memory serves me correctly.

I grew up in Surrey. And I'll never live there again. It smells bad and it's full of teenage mothers with 2 or 3 children all of whom have different fathers (if you can call them that). I don't miss a single bit of that trashy city. And I lived in Newton- the "nice" part.
