alright, im probably gunna be eaten alive for posting this, but its just something on my mind.

Im pretty pumped about Tiesto coming and everything, and ive been reading around on here and ive seen lots of people whining about what he does on stage. "he goes around to the crowd and waves his arms ;)"
"he jumps around like an idiot".

well i think what people are missing, is that hes also a performance artist as well as a DJ. yea he mixes his stuff to entertain but he gets the crowd pumping with his own style of performing. watch some videos on youtube of him, you'll see fireworks, violinists, sometimes even full orchastras. its all about putting on a show.

try to think outside the box of what "entertainment" is. i mean go to a rock concert or something. you dont see them just standing there doing nothing. they get the crowd involved, they get everyone leaving thinking "wow that was awesome". Its no different with electronic music.

And yea thats my rant for now. Oh and remember its just my opinion and it doesnt really have to mean anything

if i wanted to see an orchestra, i'd go to the orchestra and still not pay what ticket prices were for tiesto.
if i wanted to see fireworks, i'd go to the HSBC Celebration of Light and support a local, FREE and on-going event.
if i wanted to see a REGULAR human being like you or I wave his arms over his head for a few hours, i'd flail around in the mirror for awhile after i got out of the shower.

In any case personally for me it's an ego thing. He was amazing in the late 90's when he was a rising star. Now he just stands there, looks bored, and occasionally kisses his trophy girlfriend.

tiesto use to be a good producer/dj when he came out with flight 643 but now his songs aren't even that good, and from what my friends told me last time he came down he wasnt that good live

i actually like Tiesto and his antics. i've Always liked the way he looks like he is having fun and connects with the crowd. it shows he likes the music as much as we do and he isn't just doing it cuz its some gig he got.

i've seen it so many times before when the dj(local and headliner) stands there like a deer in headlights, blank look on their face, barely moving, head down looking at the tables the WHOLE time. Like ya i understand they were brought in to play some music, but if they arnt having a good time whats the point of doing the gig.

everyones different, i know, and all djs have thier own style and way of expressing themselves. still, its my opinion that i prefer to see someone bouncing around enjoying party, the crowd and the music.

^ You may not like the music, but look at the show, Dirt Bikes jumping in the background, dancers, Pyrotechnics displays and MUCH more. Not to mention a shit load of DJs. And the cost? Early tickets are alot less then what your gunna pay to see Tiesto in a show!

but what really pisses me off is how highly regarded he is by everyone who doesnt know a fucking thing about DJing or electronic music.....every random girl has "Tiesto" under their favourite music on the myspace profiles and shit......when they dont even know a single other DJ or producer....it's almost as if Tiesto represents "techno" (as they would call it) as a whole

all these ignorant people (apparently the person who started this thread included) don't really realize he's not doing anything that a thousand other DJs aren't doing around the world (some better than him too). The same show could be put on by a ton of other DJs if they had the crazy stages, lights and lazers.....not to mention the most important ingredient: hype.....the word that Tiesto's picture should be next to in the dictionary.

DUH! how do you think people get into the music. theres huge acts like you've mentioned which are mainstream yes..... but when people hear it, if they like it they get into the music a little more and thats how they discover other less "prefab" music when they choose to dive deeper into the music culture. there isn't a lot of people i know who would just swoon over a lot of the music the first time they heard it. the big names are like "transition djs" that bring more listeners into it.

who are you to classify anyone as new... you look new to me, just a year on fnk. you're just jumping on the "i hate everything mainstream" bandwagon thats oh so present here on fnk. people just choose to hate the mainstream just because its mainstream. perhaps for accptance too maybe cuz its a trend around here for senior members to cut down newbies regardless of what they say, tell them they dont know shit and how its stupid for them to like what they like ie: the mainstream.

theres a lot of sheep on this website and its sooo hurting to see people getting off high fiving each other all the time cuz it gives them a rise.
