Best Rap Songs of all Time!

Was sitting here thinking of some of my fave, and prob some of the most controversial, and standalone rap songs from the last 10 years.. So I thought I would post my thoughts.

Number 3: 2Pac - Changes
-- His lyrics helped speak out across north america to people who didnt give two shits about anything. Rapping about the troubles of ghetto life, and society in general. It spoke to kids thru adults, if only he were still around today, the changes he could have helped fight for.

Number 2: Lose Yourself - Eminem
-- With his movie premier he became one of the most talked about, most known rappers ever. From his countless CD's of hate, crime, drugs, and violence.. he has managed to perch on a stool to be viewed by any audience in the world. Lose yourself, his release track, eminem has become a love/hate but cant-help to-listen to artist in rap.

Number 1: Easy E - Real motherfucken G's
-- Know of him, or not.. Easy E (in my eyes) created one of the BEST, and most controversial songs in rap.. ever. If you have ever taken 5 mins to sit down and really listen to this song you see that his pure hate for Dr.Dre and his more then obvious truths to his lyrics. Dr.Dre being one of the top most 3 idols in rap (if not the most) has created a empire for himself, so who is this rapper proclaiming its all show. The very concept of the song is a pure insult to the empire hog Dr.Dre. I mean Easy E is anything BUT the best rapper.. but his lyrics are a window into a world of fake and show we only know so little about.

Ok, well thats my little morning post. I mean by no means are these the 3 best songs ever.. not by a long shot, but in my eyes and in my ears (lol) they are defiantly some of the best. Dont agree? Lets hear it..

Going on the basis of "All Time" and not just last 10 years, have to include "White Lines" by Grandmaster Flash...an oldie but a goodie (geez, that makes it sound like it should be played on AM radio...lol).

Grandmaster flash and melle mel - The message
Best rap song ever.
Up to that point it was all party rap and fluff.
It was the first socially responsible rap song.

Plus it had a killer beat.

well gandmaster flash is pretty 1980's
I did mean within the last 10 years, or thr 1990's atleast :D
but never the less.. regulators is defiantly one of the top rap songs of all time, but it told more of the story that goes on within gangs, not much of a positive message :)

what about ice cube ghetto vet? anyone familiar?

such a hard question. a hot track is a hot track, but i'll try to remember shit that really stands out. by no means is this a comprehensive list...

nas - if i ruled the world got me on the whole nas thing, missed the boat since i was young.

beastie boys - paul revere + sure shot. both have memorable rhymes and beats, back when beasties were in thier prime, and not all about freeing tibet and not showering. paul's boutique is still a tight album, proved that white boys could throw down without being kitsch way before eminem.

common - i used to love H.E.R.

nore - superthug nore is hands down, my favorite living east coast mc. you seriously can't fuck with how wack he is. he spits the dumbest shit and makes it sound like poetry, and he can do it off the top of his head. one of the most slept on mcs right now. this track embodifies his shit, and it's an early neptunes beat too... back when they were still fronting on asteroids.

buck 65 - anything. i just dropped 100+ bucks to get the guys entire back catalouge. fuck. all i can say is 'fuck.'

the whole fucking 'it takes a nation of millions to hold us back...' PE album. ho-ree-shit.

RZA (as bobby digital) - la rhumba

the coup - me and jesus the pimp good beat, simple story.

the firm - phone tap sick sick beat

rakim - microphone fiend

mos def - ms fat booty 'ass so fat ya'll could see it from the FRONT!'

Ghostface Killah - All That I Got Is You

doug e and slick rick - lodi dodi... of course. you can't front on that.

fuck i could go on forever. nevermind.

Nas - One Love (Illmatic is the best hiphop album of all time).
Artifacts - Whayback
Wu-Tang - Can it be that it was all so simple then
Gangstarr - Mass Appeal
ATCQ - Electric Relaxation
J5 - Concrete Schoolyard
Crooklyn Dodgers - Crooklyn

Also, can't remember any specific track names, but there were like 6 fucking amazing tracks off of the self-titled Beatnuts CD.

They just don't make hiphop like they used to!

I'd replace the 2pac track with Hit Em Up.

Other honrable mentions include:

Wu-Tang - C.R.E.A.M.
Eminem - Guilty Conscience (Mr. Dre? Mr. N.W.A.?
Mr. AK comin' straight outta Compton y'all better make way?
How in the fuck you gonna tell this man not to be violent?
)
Snoop Dogg - Ain't No Fun
