When'll you consider yourself a 'successful' dj/producer

I'm my own worse critic. I got my mixing down, some great wax, and i've been trying to play more and more and more. But when will i be satisfied?!

Is it a matter of releasing my own mix CD? or is it just for the love of it? Hell, i'd like to travel to spin. That'd be the craziest feeling getting welcomed by a foreign city, on stage. I also wanna get up on some radio stations a couple of times, just for the experience.. and i'd like to eventually produce in like, 5 years or something. yah yah, i'm a long way away. I'd even like to get a residency somewhere, like the Lotus Lounge, TKL, or Sonar to drop a heavy breaks set like every week or two.

How about you guys/girls? How far do you wanna take this? (also include the type of music you play)

the only way to see how far you can go, is by taking things as far as you can. As they say in Fight Club, you decide your own level of commitment.

Getting to look down on a crowd of dancing people, bring them up with a twist of a cutoff knob, take the bass away, build the energy, and DROP it back in, and see the energy on the dancefloor explode... there's nothing else like it. Spinning records is cool, but it's got nothing on having both hands on the reins of a live techno rig.

Fuck, man, I've already won. Everything from here on in is icing on the cake.

Fuck "sales". Fuck "residencies". Fuck "success". The whole point of all of this is that it's wicked fun to let go of everything and dance your ass off at four in the morning.

lol, a couple of nights ago i had a dream that my neighbour knocked on my door and was like 'you know, you're getting a lot better at this dj'ing stuff. good music.' or something along those lines. that made my night. then i woke up and went to work-

Ive always wanted to travel, play diffrent exciteing clubs, and meet tons of new ppl. Recently ive gotten this huge erg to make and play all my own music (labtop this summer!!!)
And like martin said get in a good pool :D

Success is always in the eye of the beholder.

To me, we're already successful, we're releasing records, more and more every day. Playing gigs around the world, at some of the best venues in the world. Getting recogized for the work we put into our music.

The biggest part of that success is that we enjoy what we do.

I'm working on it. I'm playing at my next rave in May (Fusion Dreams), been hitting a ton of house parties with my buddy Nate (the general), i'm TRYING to get play on a local SFU radio station (heh heh, hopefully wednesday night!), just asked Azim to play at Inferno in July... So far so good.
