Josh thinks I owe him damage because I lived there for 10 days. I did pay him half a months rent and I didn't even get my own room.

oh and he posted under snatchface.... dissing all of twisted and especially craig.

he threw a party called u-neek and he said that he didnt know the venue changed to the ghetto venue but he knew the whole time and lied to everyone.

Telling me I need to get an agent is all well and good except it's coming from someone who has no idea what labels or agencies or radio shows I'm signed with whatsoever. It's redundant though, because I never needed an agent 4 years ago to be paid $4-500 for a show.. why do you need an agent in order to be paid that? You don't. Sorry for having to point out the brutally obvious here but anyone has a god given right to charge whatever they like because when it comes down to it no one's pointing a gun to a promoter's head and forcing him to book you. What I have charged for a long time has a bit to do with the fact I've been djing 10 years and a skill level and experience that's reflective of that.

People around here don't go booking vancouver based DJs through their agencies either in most cases for obvious reasons: to save $$ and not pay the agents fees. A friend of mine who lives in Van and plays mostly out of town gets paid $1500 euro a show.. yet do you think anyone here pays him that or books him thru his agent?

One thing is for sure though, agents do protect you a bit at least from some of the many unprofessional and sketchy promoters. Thinking you can trust a promoter and help him out by dealing with him directly can lead to getting fucked over unfortunately.

Sturdy I hope you get your records back from that shady fucker. If you are still having problems with Josh for much longer let us know. In the meantime get this sorted out asap.

you don't have to pay him a cut of a booking you do directly with someone ie: not going through your agent, such in the case of trusting your local promoters with a booking in your home town like you might think you should be able to do. but also you are not getting the protection of your agent.
