Hmm. That Vestax is a damn nice mixer, loaded with freatures. However I realized that I would like to hook up my laptop to the mixer via midi controller, and I saw that the Vestax does not have that, which is what I am wanting ultimately.
Swytch, are you aware of any hardware mods for adding a midi controller to the Vestax, and then route it to your computer? I am thinking that the cost for the firewire card + mixer for the Mackie d.2 will come out very close to the Vestax. Thanks for the info! |

I own an original Mackie d.2 mixer. The sound quality is good and the EQs are powerful. It is also built tough. The faders are pretty good. It uses an infinium optical crossfader which has adjustable tension. I do nonetheless have a few beefs with it.
The Line fader curves are poor. There is somewhat of a latency with the crossfader. Sometimes when I fast clicks or crabs, it doesn't register. The crossfader area is starting to wear out and it has not been a year yet. Sometimes when I scratch, i feel as if I am grinding against something. Overall, for a first attempt, Mackie did good job since this was their first dj scratch mixer. It has helped me progessed a lot with my scratching so that is one of the things I will always like about it. Is this for the original Mackie d.2 or the d.2PRO?
