let's say ryan kesler doubles his #'s and becomes a respectable 2-3rd liner. which is what i think he'll top out at if he's lucky. so he gets 45pts. now we have to re-sign him to 1.9m minimum. this is a team already close to the cap, so when another team comes by and outbids us because we can't afford to pay him any more then the 1.9m. now we've lost kesler for nothing while overpaying him a year. i think i'll take the 2nd rounder. see the problem? the only way we keep kesler the next year is if he regresses. so i'd rather just let him go to philly, we get a 2nd rounder and we WOULD have signed carter in theory. the reason this kesler thing looks even worse then it initially does is because this team didn't have an extra million to throw around. |

I understand how stupid moves like this cause inflation. But realistically, this thing was a grudge thing by Bobby Clarke against Nonis. He was workin away for a Naslund deal and it didn't happen. I personally think that Bobby Clarke is the dumbest man in hockey after Harry Sinden.
Kesler with 45 pts would end up signing for the same amount. Stretch out an entire season of him gettin the ice time he was the last quarter of the season, he'll put up the numbers. |

That's the best part. Apparently, Nonis and Carter were only one million dollars apart. Now Carter is a Blue Jacket and we give two million to a chump like Kesler?!?!?! Wouldn't the team have been way better off if we'd given Carter that extra mill and brought up a minor leager? I still say we should bring in Mike Keenan. Nonis is the Stephen Harper of hockey.

^ our starting right winger. You mean top line right winger.
I am pretty sure Naslund is gonna take that spot. He is moving from left wing to right which is actually the position he has played for most of his season. if your talking about something completely different than i apologize |

ughhhhhhhhh I still can't believe carter is gone and we have kess for 2 mil. the magic of the sedin line will be gone I think to a point. they were our only hope for a strong offensive line IMO. Not to mention all the cap space wasted on mitchell. Nonis is a freakin retard.

Which would make room for Jan Bulis on the first line. It's going to be a long, long year.

The only good thing I guess, is carter won't do that great on any other team. Without the magic of the sedins around him, I don't see him producing much and he's gettin near the end of his career. still would way rather have him than mitchell+kessler , or any other combo we could have gave up to have carter. |

oh yeah forgot about nash..... yeah he should do pretty good with him.

all in all, i think we came out pretty decent. (althought we should have kept richard park)
i would have also loved to have seen morrison moved, but for whom i cant really say. i'm excited as fuck to see whats going to happen this year, every team looks fresh and ready to take it a step further. let the games begin! |

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=176646&hubname=nhl and if ur too lazy to click and read heres a direct quote "The biggest deal Canucks GM Dave Nonis made over the summer was trading right-winger Todd Bertuzzi to Florida in a package that brought goaltender Roberto Luongo to Vancouver. This could result in Naslund being moved to Bertuzzi's wing from his spot on the left side. "I don't have a problem with it," Naslund said. "I played right all the way until Crow (Crawford) put me on the left side. It might take a little while to really feel comfortable." |

If that is what Kenji meant, then it was MY mis-interpretation, and for that confusion I appologize. Sometimes clarity is important when you are adding information to a discussion. :) Therefore in conclusion, Kenji was right, and I was right but I misread his sentence, no harm done :) Let's move on :mexitoke: hahaha |

I should have just said most of his hockey career. i really hope naslund can just start his career. last year was a bit of a downer though he was trying hard for about 50% of the season. plus his career isn't gonna be that much longer soo i hope he can really get it going this season. alot of this relies on how morisson plays as well. |

but now its too late and now we gotta gamble on morisson having a breakthrough season again. otherwise were gonna have to rely on the sedins again.... |
