I used a blowtorch and exacto to carve some shit on my arm when I was young.

After a few mins the pain is gone via endorphins.

Nothin I reccommend tho.

Branding some runes on my back is something I want to do later though.

Or some alchemical symbols, mercury would be dope.

Brandings illegal in bc tho so I can't even get it done pro.

But this also reminds me of a funny story... my buddy Josh wanted to brand a J on his Bicep when we were like 17...so he got a coat hanger and bends a "J" outta it...So he goes on the stove yadda yadda....Brands himself and looks in the mirror and there's a perfect " J " there for ya... but then he realized shortly after when I looked at it....it was backwards!!!!!! hahahahhahahhahahahha, talk about OWNED.

Some of those are rather ugly and almost sore looking. However, I think if it's done well, isn't huge and isn't some stupid design and doesn't look like some sort of gross gaping wound, then it can be a pretty neat thing. :)

People choose to decorate their body in different forms. Just because you don't understand it or don't agree doesn't mean they're crazy or that there's something wrong with them like you seem to imply.

Scarification when done properly can be quite beautiful. I would never have the balls to do it myself but I think there are some amazing pieces out there. As with anything though there are also some pieces that are poorly done.

Also for the record the vast majority of those are freshly done... once healed they look a lot different.

Yeah, some of those look a little sick, and some people IMO got silly things done....but there were a few in there that were really beautiful.

I think some of them look pretty awesome...like that guys chest a few pictures down with the om in the center.. Sure some of them are ..nasty..
But i think it's cool weather or not they did do it for Cultural respect for a certain tribe or community..I just think it's interesting that these people are using the same kind of self expression as people who live more remote to us all around the world, who use scarification as anything from family respect, coming of age..religion or political beliefs..
But I do think it robbs it of some sacredness,
like the Maori warrior tattoo's Moko..and having it done by someone not of Maori decent, or getting someone elses history tattooed on your body...
But all in all..
If they feel it further expresses themselves into the world..
Im all for that..

No I wasn't implying that this was wrong, but some of those pieces were really big and elaborate, almost baffled me. I was more intrigued by the carnage, altho a bit grossed out I can still understand why someone would do that.

Well like I said before... the vast majority of those are fresh pieces. They look completely different once healed.

There's pieces I think are a little much (like that triblade neck piece... damn that must've killed) just like there's people out there that think my ears are a little much. It really comes down to each their own.

BTW all those images were taken from http://modblog.bmezine.com there's lots of really interesting stuff on there and it's generally updated daily.
