^ how is it ok to say fat ppl look bad in lycra but its not ok to tell a skinny person that they need to eat a sandwich?
What is the difference? Call me stupid if you wish but i dont see how that is ok if they feel comfortable in lululemon let them. if lululemon comes in a size 10 maybe its ok for a size 10 to wear it. this bothers me cuz most of my family isnt my size. so i have had to hear comments like that made so if you think being told to eat a sandwich is rough. have someone tell you that you look disgusting in a certain brand then we can chat Last edited by Pussy*Kat; Oct 15, 06 at 09:54 PM. |

My point is that ANYONE'S body is not an acceptable topic for a stranger to bring up. It's tacky and rude, regardless of the person's size.
(I think I totally repeated myself there) Quote:
That's the difference between the general statement "bigger people don't look good in lycra" and the personal comment "go eat a sandwich". |

so if somone said "girls like her should go eat something" that makes more so ok?
It is now a generalized statement, it is no longer a personal attack Im not trying to pick a fight, but you thought that comment was funny. yet somone generalizing that skinny ppl need to eat something is rude and tacky. Last edited by Pussy*Kat; Oct 15, 06 at 10:06 PM. |

dude, after gaining 45 pounds after childbirth - LULU'S ARE THE ONLY EFFING THINGS THAT FIT. They are a godsent. I've dropped a ton of weight since, but I have come to terms that i will never ever look good in "skinny jeans" - because my body is definetly NOT fit for them. Regardless if i was 150 pounds or 120 pounds. It's all a matter of your proportions.
But it bugs me that I can't find a good pair of jeans this season - R+R's/True Religions/C+P's are kinda overplayed.... So I had to order my fall jeans off the internet, because all the stores here have those goddamn bootcut/skinny jeans. |

where's all this fight stuff coming from? I didn't accuse or insult, I'm just having a conversation. It's normal to disagree with others once in a while. |

I dont get this lulu burning thing? I was once told and completely agree that the amazing thing about lulu's is that it fits EVERY body type out there. Maybe not somone who was 300+ lbs, but I think it molds and shows off all the curvs of a women individualy. As for skinny jeans and it was said before, but maybe needs to be said again. ITS JUST THE NAME OF THE JEAN, BECAUSE ITS SKINNY AT THE BOTTOM! Anyone can wear them and fit them and I dont think bigger ppl would have a problem becuase the wiast etc is all the same as in any jean. Its just the bottom thats smaller... and who has problems losing wieght in that area? |

^ I think what people are saying about skinny jeans is that they don't suit a lot of body types because a flared jean tends to balance out larger thighs/waist but the skinny jean draws attention to those areas.
As for the Lululemon discussion, my problem is not with larger girls wearing lulu. It's with larger girls who wear too-small lulus. In fact, my problem is with anyone who wears clothing that is too tight or too baggy. It doesn't look flattering, and clothing is supposed to flatter your body type! I just don't understand why anyone would buy clothing that makes them look less attractive than they actually are! |

^ if your rolls are hanging off the sides - BUY A SIZE UP.
it's not that hard! and it doesn't mean you're fat!!!! It's one thing to be in denial about your weight and squeezing yourself into a pair of 27's that DON'T look good, and one thing to buy clothes that FIT and that are PROPORTIONAL to your body type. It's not the waist size that matters! it's the FIT that makes you look good! |

And yes find clothing that is FITTED! Thats the designer's job, to design cloths that look good on you based on your size. Going for a size thats not what you normaly go for, wont look good on you. Last edited by Ree Fresh; Oct 15, 06 at 11:20 PM. |

Granted i didnt put on to much weight when pregnant very little actually but i lost weight other places of my body and wasnt hugs. But none the less i dont look the same nor does my body, Atleast not yet. Ive dropped more then i gained and fit in clothes again but i still dont feel the same. The skinny jeans look great on some people small and larger but I for one cant pull it off! Confidence is sexy, clothes that fit are even sexier! |

However, I've been cursed with smaller hips than a waist (it happened to my mom and she's a size 4) So if I go a "size up" as you call it, I either have to wear my pants right under my tits and have this massive camel toe, or, wear them around my hips, with a belt, drawing more attention to my love handles. So Chances are, I'm more than likely one of the people you (not specifically YOU, but in general) will ridicule for not knowing her own size and seeing the love handles go over the belt. Have I tried dieting? Of course I have silly! All girls have! Have I tried working out? See above answer. I've got my love handles... they're in my way occasionally, but until the day comes where I don't have people commenting on how good I llook, or when I stop getting picked up at bars... I'm going to keep living the way I do |

not too into the skinny jeans look. mind you, they feel so much better tucking into a boot than regular jeans :)
just wear what you feel comfortable in. i could care less what someone thought i should or shouldn't wear. if you want to rock the skinny, do it. i just wouldn't feel comfortable wearing skinny jeans without a nice set of boots to hide the skinny, lol!!!!! |

No matter what body type you have people will try and pick away at your confidence due to their own insecurities. My body type is very peculiar. I gain/lose weight(fat/muscle either or) at tremendous speeds and have gone through many body styles. Looking at pictures of me through out the years and most probably wouldn't be able to tell they are the same person. That being said others attempted to harass me regardless of how I looked. When I was younger(up until grade 8/9) My grandma lived with us and cooked every meal(healthy) and I played sports year round, pretty much every day. I wasvery slender, and everyone harassed me for being too slender. I broke my shoulder in football, andsimultaneously my grandma had movedaway and my mom went in to the hospital. My aunt came and looked after us, and she was lazy. Even when my shoulder healedshe wouldn't register meforany sports, and meals every day consistedof ordering in or fast food. I gained nearly 100 pounds in a year, I was harassed for being fat. My dad flew me out to live withhim here in vancouver, and put me on a strict diet. ALso, for football, I started working out every day. I started becomign obsessed with lifting, and at one point wasin the gym upwards of 5hrs a day. I never touched steroids oranything, but becauseI was gaining so much muscle mass, every one called me a roid monkey. Some even called me a 'meat head' and an idiot, telling me to go study-not even bothering to ask about my academic situation. I had pretty muchstraigt A's and was taking AP courses.
So, regardless of how you look others will still find a way totry and bring you down to their level. It's no easier being skinny, or muscular, or fat. trust me. Others react the same regardless. Justbe happy with your self, and strive to be healthy, that is all that is important. |
