Do you like Christmas?

If so why?

I hate Christmas. :finger:

It brings out some of the worst traits in people and it's all commercialized and all about consumption. I can't stand looking at people lining up to BUY gifts. BUY! BUY! BUY!

So the more you buy the nicer you are?? :gross:

So if you also can't stand Christmas but want to give back to your fellow man/woman then click here: http://fnk.ca/board/showthread.php?p...46#post1749146

Hate it for the fact its now as most holidays become so commercialized. Most stores start putting up christmas decorations and start selling christmas stuff along with christmas music before even halloween.

I also am a little biased because i havn't celebrated a normal christmas since i guess i was 11 or 12. I've usually gone out. The one exception was when I went to Claire's house for a christmas dinner.

I dont like Christmas at all. People think it's about the gifts, when it's about family. I dont ask for anything really my parents buy me things I want that I say Im going to buy myself. I buy for them even thought they dont want gifts. When your little christmas is good but now its not so special.

I don't like how it's all about 'buying your love'.

I love Christmas for the get togethers with friends and family's and enjoying the time off from work to sit around and relax.

Plus the food, mmmmmMmmm!

Totally when your a kid it seems such a magical time with family. I see kids all the time with stars in their eyes when christmas comes.

As you get older though for one everything costs more since your the one buying, and nowadays its almost rude if you don't get at least a $20 or $30 dollar gift.

What happened to the dinner, family and the spirit of christmas. Oh yea it got replaced by the materialistic ideals of christmas.

Exactly, My dad's thought the way I do his whole life. The only reason we get a tree and do the whole christmas thing is for me and my little sister. I like having a tree but if I woke up with no presents I'd be just as happy if I had 50 gifts. I love spending the time with my family. Of course I love the food.

I agree, I love the family factor, My mom has had a way of keeping it magical year after year, as materialistic its become, I dont mind it as long as i still get my Family and Friends and share the Holidays.
Im so excited now as Georgia is here we can start are own Family gathering every mornming once she is a bit oilder, and then go see all the grandparents and everything.
My favorite is decorating the tree and listening to the music with family or friends, people I care about. And this year we have Our own tree (we had a tiny one last year) and our having good friends come obver when we decorate it, One friend so far. Haha and Id like to keep it as a tradition to share that with these friends and actually experience the Holiday without it being gifts gifts gifts

I like giving gifts. I tend to have a habit of getting folks things they'd never expect to get, yet enjoy just as much. Seeing that look on their face makes me kind of tingly inside.

Still, I could do that at any point during the year...

A few years ago when I handed someone a gift and they looked at it with the look of 'That's it?' comparing it to what they gave me I guess... that is when I was done with Christmas.

That's why I just take the amount of money I would have spent on trivial gifts and put it towards other things like the charity events I am planning.

At least those people appreciate the effort.

My family does a polish christmas dinner on the 24th instead of the 25th.

We fast all day until dinner and the dinner is meatless. Last year it was just my dad, brother and I. We just sat and ate almost everything we made. I think we couldn't move until late late that night.

It was small and quiet but I enjoyed it.

Definetly a sign that times have changed. Your definetly doing a commendable thing.

Blankets wil go alot furthur than giving someone a gift and having them snuff it off because its not what they thought they were getting.

I like christmas when I am around my family. Its only myself and my dad out here in bc. The rest of the family is all in montreal.... My mothers side of the family is so huge that every christmas we have to rent a hall to fit everyone in there... Everyone brings a ton of food, gifts are laid out for the young one's and all. But its more about getting together. When I was in montreal 2 years ago I met 2 of my cousins for the first time. They were 18... Gonna be a quiet christmas again this year :(

I'm not really big on Christmas anymore, but that probably has to do with the fact that Christmas has been the same old shit for the last 15 years. Christmas eve at my place, Christmas brunch at my aunt's place, and Christmas dinner at my Grandma's place, with a whole lot of my parents hating me in between. I blew $600 to go home for Christmas for 3 days last year, and that was about 2.5 days too long. The party the night I got in was insane, and the rest was all part of the worst Christmas ever.

This will be my first Christmas without family; I'm kind of looking forward to it, actually.

I totally agree.. I always think of the best gifts, I love to be creative with them.

I love christmas time, I love the decorations and the music and the snow just makes everything so much better. I love going away and spending time with my family in kelowna. Its always been such a magical time for me.

I both like and dislike christmas. I like it when I can buy ppl things and put lots of thought into it. The reaction I get when I suprise somone with a great preasant makes me :).

However, this year I am broke. Which is ok. It happens to the best of us. I just feel like shit because I can't really buy anyone anything. So basically, christmas is making me feel like shit... so this year i hate it.

^ you still have time u know.

If it comes down to it you could always get some food together and throw a feast for friends or family? It doesn't always have to bve about the presents.

Best reaction i got was a few years back when on christmas i went to a friends house and delivered a present to her door in person.

She was so surprised the reaction was everything I could have asked for. Christmas can be a time thats special even to someone who goes out on christmas every year it doesn't mean the feeling isn't there.
