Canada's Conservative government has outlined a plan to eliminate the net federal debt within the next 15 years, steadily cut corporate and personal taxes, and expand private-sector involvement in infrastructure financing. Delivering an economic and fiscal update to parliament, the finance minister Jim Flaherty said yesterday that "it's time to mobilize Canadians to make a national commitment to pay off Canada's national mortgage".
I think I'll believe that when... well.... y'know.... with the flying monkeies & what not

I only briefly glanced at this in the paper during my flight today. So they're going to take $17 from every $200 we pay and put it towards the national debt. And this WON'T result in a tax increase or budget cuts. Right.
I'm all for wiping out the national debt... but first, let's grow a backbone and stop letting countries fuck us up our financial ass. Maybe make the US pay us back for some of those softwood tariffs? $5billion towards the national debt sounds good. They can just skim it off of the stolen currency from their Middle Eastern romp. Hell, why not just give us some oil?
I don't like this one bit. I smell a ruse.
