People's ideology is the main point to be debated here.
I might have generalized it too much by saying "the fact that most wars and conflict in the world arise from people's religious beliefs" when there is usually other factors to be considered. The current world issues are things that make my head spin. When Saddam Hussein makes a copy of the Koran in his own blood and invokes the propoganda machine to make him linked to Mohammed himself and to preach this and say the West is corrupt and evil is nutz. However, no matter how crazy I think it is, the people over there take this as truth and follow him BECAUSE of the ties to their religious beliefs. The problem as I see it is that people nowadays do not question what is presented to them. For example... why is an apple called an apple? Why is red Red? We take these points for granted without questioning the origins. One of my professors told me that the day we stop questioning the things we see that is the day we turn into lemmings. A newborn child in the Middle East is raised to believe that the West is evil and that Mohammed decrees that all evil must be destroyed. He grows up with this 'fact' implanted in their head and never questions is. When that child becomes an adult and comes here for a visit do you think he or she is going to open their eyes and mind to see soemthing different? This example isn't that extreme and the point can be made for other 'beliefs' as well. Notice how I didn't say religion as you are correct in stating that 'religion' and 'beliefs' are two totally different points. |

i totally agree to that, i mean some people may say something and either not mean it or not realize that what they have said was rascist or what have it.
but i know on-line it is very hard to seek the scarcasm so joking about stuff like that online should (if you must) be kept to a dull min or out of the topic. there is better things to talk about than slandering other people come on now lets not make this a bitter place, bring out the plur.... lol ^scarcasm^ now dont shut me down for using that term, bring some fun back into life, |

To comment on racism i'd like to say that. We live in a democratic society where we as citizens of this contry have voted and accepted the right for people from all around the world to come here and live new lives and continue their herritage.
Canada is known for a Liberal way of thinking which also means a progressive way of thinking. Racism and hate is so retro-verted Let's move things forward. |

That being said, it would be nice if there was no racism, or hate, but it's there. Gives me heart to see people uniting for WHAT IS RIGHT! Plur........... |
