Here, here!
that is exactly why I left another board that shall remain nameless--it's not cool to shoot someone in the foot as a peson. I'm all for freedom of speech but when it hits so personal and so close to home and the user is more that well aware of that, then it really isn't right. You do run the risk of getting made fun of for what you say (hense the risks of a public board) so rip up that person's post if you don't like what they have to say, NOT the person themselves. i.e. "I think what you said might be wrong, and here's why..." not "Listen you, (racial/sexist term)....." That is all! |

To adress the "bubble" comment from a previous user: Even though this appears to be a public forum, it is essentially paid for and maintained by several people. those people are setting out some very basic guidlines that they wish users to abide. i personally would not want some stranger, or friend of a friend of a friend to come over and shit on my carpet, despite their pleas of self expression. I don't turn away from discussion, as i'm sure most wouldn't here, but i think that it's presumtuous of the previous user to instruct the admins regarding the code of conduct that they wish to see maintained on their boards. - J

I agree to freedom of speech - but idiots should not be tolerated [I know it's subjective on how we identify those idiots]. Whatever you say, back it up. Stereotyping and useless generalizations make for unpleasant remarks and heated discussions on topics unworthy a poster's time [and the server space]. Anybody can make some random hate-comment but what is really there to support it?
Think. |

I'm down with the anti-racisim thing... given that we all live in a very multi-cultural city I wouldn't think that would be a problem.
But let me get this straight... you can't say "that's retarted!" or anything of that nature. Wether you mean it in a good way or bad? |

Racism in this generation shows just how little people have advanced. I agree with u Robb considering you live in a multicultural country why would someone be racist? To joke around is fine as long as the person knows this. but to be serious and hate someone based on the colour of their skin...ignorant is what that it.
