Urban Infiltration
Anyone else out here get a kick out of exploring tunnels, drains, and abandoned buildings?
There's a huge community of explorers on the Urban Exploration Resource (Urban Exploration Resource: Welcome to the Urban Exploration Resource!) who are more than willing to share tips, and hints at locations. Here's some shots from a recent excursion to the "Hall of Wonders" aka the "Hall of Mediocre Graffiti." Note: This tunnel was in no way connected to a sewer system. It carries a creek underneath a major road-section, before surfacing again near a golf course. Water samples taken inside find it to be almost as clean as tap water (not that tap water in the CRD is clean, haha.) |

Wikipedia defines it as: Urban exploration (often shortened as urbex or UE) is the examination of the normally unseen or off-limits parts of human civilization. Urban exploration is also commonly referred to as infiltration, although some people consider infiltration to be more closely associated with the exploration of active or inhabited sites. In the USA, it may also be referred to as "draining" (when exploring drains) "urban spelunking", and "urban caving", "vadding", "building hacking", "Reality hacking" or "roof and tunnel hacking". So, both terms are equally correct. :) And it's good to see I'm not the only one interested in it. |
