Thinking of a "career" change

Well I've been doing some thinking recently in regards to where I stand with the company where I am at right now. I've been working in this call center for about 6 years now.... Average call center live spans are 4 years. Huge turn-over rate here as well, essentially the whole community knows of this companies reputation. Although I am making 14 dollars an hour it took me 6 years to go from 11 dollars an hour to 14.... I essentially get yelled at all day by stupid people, pointless bullshit really. At the same time I have been looking at my health and how this job has affected me. I used to be a size 36 waist before I started working here... would be able to run 8 km in 20 minutes. However ever since I have started here my health has declined.

I'm eye'ing at a job closer to home... which means less commuting which means I can get my insurance lowered and don't have to spend as much money on fuel then I normally do. Even though the starting wage is 13 dollars an hour but then go's to 15 after a year it would be well worth it. It may require some heavy lifting and such but its a production line for pressure washer units so it shouldn't be all that heavy. Either way it would be something physical to do which I believe is missing in my daily routine now days. Every job has its hazards but I think this would only be for the better.

FireWire will become famous soon enough
I agree man. Don't feel offended but I always thought that your current job isn't doing you any good health-wise... I just didn't want to tell you that while you weren't considering a job change on your own.

I think it's a very good idea to try that new job you found - good luck with it. One thing, however, is that any job with some or lots of heavy lifting isn't good either. I looked back at how many jobs I had which involved heavy lifting - and they all contributed to this severe back pain I'm having now. If I knew any better, I wouldn't take those jobs in the first place. OK, so now you know. The final choice is yours.

A Call-Centre Job is just a place to waste time until you find a real Career.

Time to move up man! :)
