invisible or ability to fly?

okay, i did this a few years ago and thought it would be interesting to do it again.

would you rather be able to become invisible on command, or have the ability to fly?

the laws:

you can become invisible and visible at will, all your clothes/accessories will become invisible with you. you cannot make anyone else invisible. people can still bump into you or see you if you get wet.

you cannot fly for an unlimited time, but instead would get tired at the rate of how tired you would get if you were walking. you can travel upwards of 100 km per hour. you can't fly into outerspace.

Tough one... I think I'd choose to fly.

those laws have been constructed over years of debate and argument with friends. limits had to be put on otherwise there's no real decision to be made.

the laws aren't really that bad anyway. the invisible one is pretty standard i think...most movies where you become invisible you don't even get to keep your clothing.

also you can walk for hours without really getting too tired, so you'd be able to fly for hundreds of kilometres before stopping to rest. and just because you can fly doesn't mean you can breathe in outerspace.

I'm drawn between the exhilaration of flying and the practical uses of invisibility. This is a hard question. I've spent hours upon hours debating this with friends. Time to continue the ponder.

What 'practical' use for invisibility is there other than being a spy?

Be invisible and still be bound by the same restrictions you already have. Albeit you can sneak onto plans and stuff to try and follow your friend who can fly.

There are so many things you can do if you can fly and with future technology it would enhance how long you can be in the sky.

WTF is future technology going to do for someone who can turn invisible? Make their farts not stink?

i guess it all depends on what you are going to be using it for.

sure, flying would get you places and that would be pretty sweet. but if you wanted to 'do good' then being invisible would allow you more opportunities to doing hero stuff because you could sneak around and fight crime.

i'll admit that flying would be damn cool, but how often would i really want to use it? if anyone found out that you could fly then you would be tested on and become a freak...and everyone would see you up there in the sky. seems more risky.

Everyone always assumes these tests would be horrible, but really.. they're probably just heart rate monitors, blood tests, and a cat scan. It's not like they'd cut you up. Besides, wouldn't you want to know how you can fly?

And someone with an infrared imaging device couldn't detect that you are there via your body heat and that you were invisible right? Yes these devices are used on a daily basis to check out heat signatures from high power transmission lines among other things.

In a world of 6 billion+ people do you really think you are 'one of a kind'?

How often would I use it? All the time... to get away from everyone.

I've had a few lucid dreams where I was flying..and it's an amazing feeling. I've never flown higher then the trees around me though..

i guess that's a valid point. except that most normal people don't have infrared imaging devices, while they still have eyes that could spot you flying in the sky.
