Construction workers make me want to gag. Wash your freaking hands and get some jeans w/out paint on them, k?
I'm not really attracted the business suit type of guy, either. I like an intelligent man, with a good sense of style - this means no baggy jeans, beanies, too-big tshirts and hoodies, etc. I like a man who knows when to dress it up, when to dress it down, and which cut of jeans make his ass look awesome. |

I don't know...
Nothing against trades people, or people who haven't gone to school, but I heard this hot doctor speaking in intracate detail about the bundle of his (part of the heart) and I finally realized why everyone's in love with him. Wow. There's nothing sexier than a hot, educated man with drive and ambition. Nothing. That being said, I also really dig engineers because they're usually a mixture of both options. |

I think a woman will usually choose the alpha male because regardless of what his occupation is, he'll be the best at it. People who are the best at something usually bring home $$$$. |

No man is actually an island, and no man is ever true to a seterotype imo.
If your judging on physical attraction alone, well, they're both ugly. Personally, i find artists and geeks credible. There is something about a cute boy in glasses with a good heart, who can bring something knowledgable to the table...not to mention if they actually have some form of talent. I'm just a sucker for inner content i guess. :P |

LOL this entire conversation is obviously based on shallow stereotypes...OF COURSE being a construction worker doesn't make you dumb any more than wearing a suit makes you smart or rich. Your initial post was a choice between 2 different STEREOTYPES of men, when we all know people are more complicated than that and also that there are many other types of men. It goes without saying this is just a light "what do you prefer?" scenario. |

While a lot of construction workers are apprenticing to gain higher skill levels, MOST of them are just construction workers. Yes, there are a large number that aspire to higher goals, but the majority do not. Most guys just think "Woah I can build shit for $16/hr? Cool. When do I start?" |

Our company sends their workers to school. Most take classes on BCIT through our Union (Sheet Metal Union Local 280). When they are completed their 4 year apprentice program they have the option of taking more classes to gain their Estmator certificate. Yes some do not pursue school once they are done their four year while many do. Last edited by Lil Jenna; Jun 20, 07 at 02:53 PM. |

some people are just better with their hands, just because they aren't smart in the book sense doesn't mean they don't have intelligence.......they may be talented in arts and music etc. if it weren't for construction workers we would be living without houses so in my mind that's more credible than having a fucking business degree!! I mean what the hell do assets and liabilities, quantatative methods, strategic management matter if you don't even have a roof over your head!! "JUST a construction worker" do you know how fucking hard it must be to lift and build shit in scorching heat!!!!!!! |

^ I was simply stating that most do not pursue higher education. I wasn't knocking what they do at all. Let's also keep in mind that if it weren't for engineers and designers there would be nothing for construction workers to build. Each job has its place in making our society work, therefore, I wouldn't knock any profession. My problem is with people who could go further than they currently are and choose not to because they're too lazy, etc.
My dad was easily the smartest man I've ever met. He was a carpenter - he designed and installed cabinets for a living. He never pursued higher education, and he was never happy with being "just a carpenter". IMO, a lot of people sell themselves short in terms of their intelligence when they go into tradeswork because they get caught up in the money and don't push themselves toward higher achievements. |
