I'm currently in school for my electrical apprenticeship - its an applied physics course - we're doing the same shit as 4th year physics students. I'm not selling myself short by any means nor am I putting my intelligence to waste.

^ I think I made it very clear that by "selling themselves short" I mean in terms of pursuing more education. If you're actually going to school, props to you. Like I already said in this thread, my problem is with people who do it for the money and are miserable doing it. If it makes you happy, all the power to you.

thats what they tell themselves but all my HS friends are tradesmen who say the same thing and ive read what they are talking about...it simply dosnt measure up. The equations are the same, but the amount of understanding that is required and the depth of knowledge really isnt there. i dont mean to take away from it, because being a tradesperson is somehting i could never do, not because i choose too but because i simply do not have the same ability as my friends. the reality is that comparing the two disciplines is like comparing apples to oranges, they simply are not the same. Even among the different professions the expectations and level of competance required are so divergent that you cannot generalize. There is a difference even amongst the trades, a carpenter isn't simply a carpenter, the branches are greater then the difference between rough carpentry and finish, there is alot of room for specialization. there are a couple of us that know the why what where and how of it all but if we are going to generalize - most of them dont fully understand |

its not the same as being a labourer, a job in which i managed to almost kill myself several times. if i was gonna be a tradesman id be either an industrial electrician or a auto mechanic. that was somehting that i always liked but was never good at. p.s oh yeah this is a shit thread, theres alot of douches in every profession |

construction is full of fuckups cos theres always enough dumbass work to do for people who dont know shit but can lift shit. offices are full of different kinds of fuckups cos theres always enough simple organizing tasks for people who dont know shit but can sort shit. |

i definitly tend towards construction boys. something about a guy who can do hard labour as a job is definitly appealing
 i love that they can work with their hands. *wink wink.. nudge nudge* business men dont really do it for me.. they are too clean and organized. stuffy. they wont climb trees with me. |
