Welcome to MichaelMoore.com
It is about fucking time someone told em to stop feeding us SHIT! This is what happens when you unleash Micheal Moore LIVE on CNN! Big ups yourself Mikey! :) DAR |

cmon that guy is an idiot. Seeing his view from outside of America is easy i suppose. He might be the king of editing but he's no savior for the people.
He should just move in with one of us, Vancouver is soo much better. He has a chip on his shoulder though/. Last edited by swytch; Jul 10, 07 at 11:05 PM. |

I don't think the point is really about editing or rhetoric as all news is effected by these things. What he is doing is injecting a different view into the mainstream, you fight propaganda with propaganda. Most people don't really understand that propaganda can be "good." All our view points are effected by various things and at least Michael has a certain view that he sticks to and pushes it with style and yes "editing," although i don't see how a documentary with a certain direction and viewpoint can even be produced without editing.
Sure he's no left-wing MIT professor but he pushes his point in such a manner that it reaches the mass audience. How many average-joes do you have talking about Chomsky at the dinner table? As michael said he's trying to "start a conversation about health care," and the facts are the Americans are up shit creek without a paddle. |

I dont give a crap if hes extremist left wing. Go Michael.
At least he doesnt just fall over like a poorly rooted tree in a wind storm. Sure, some of MM's facts are probably inflated. watch any major media and compare their story to the same story from a media source from another country(europe?)- different facts are accentuated. CNN might not lie directly- but they sure as hell shape how north americans think by leading them by the nose to a pre-decided conclusion. Fuck you CNN, and fuck you American media. |

Remember the days when the CIA used to conduct experiments on people trying to 'reprogram' their brains and 'make them happier' by using excessive electroshock therapy and feeding the 'patients' copious amounts of LSD?
Now CNN (and the rest of their media) is STILL trying to do the same... but without electroshock therapy or LSD. That's America for you... still striving for mass population control. Little do they realize - the masses are just too 'mass' for them to handle. One day their bullshit leaders will fall, their economy will collapse, and the people will turn against their government. |

I'm hoping us Canadians will shape up before it's too late. It seems as though we are going closer to that path. But it's because we vote in these shitty people THAN we don't step it up and say
"HEY FUCK YOU GUYS, stop fucking us around and run this country properly!" But back to Micheal Moore, I don't know how this guy Couldn't change the world.. Of course until george bush gets him assassinated! Which I'm sure one day he will try for! |

MK Ultra. That's America for you. The example I brought up was of America trying to develop a crowd control method. Now the CNN is stating false facts - think THAT ISN'T a FORM of mass population control? They wouldn't be blatantly lying like that to their public if they weren't trying to take control over their conscious knowledge. NinjaBoy, try to prove me wrong. Last edited by FireWire; Jul 11, 07 at 01:57 PM. |

Ah yes. Psy ops, disinformation, anti-culture. Control of the masses is getting ever subtler as technology advances. We need counter-balance...

I think since the beginning of classical thought there has been conversation of how to control the masses, so this isn't anything new. I think the whole shaping of media is also a result of the free market, as Moore pointed out and Wolf blitzer acknowledged that yes, "We are a business." They take in profit therefore certain pieces take priority.
So of course FOX news helped the bush administration move into Iraq but there still were people calling the news bullshit while all their small town friends clung to the war-machine hype. This is why media specialists study all media and have to understand how these people use words to shape their speech but not everyone wants to do that so they just get their news from one source. and for ninja boy, there is quite a lot of research on how news persuades (i wouldn't really say control). It is funded by big business so they do run pharmaceutical adverts and have republican led journalism. This doesn't leave much room for the fringe of journalism who come forth with challenging ideas. CNN is like the dad who doesn't know what he is talking about but tries to explain the world to his children. The kids may believe it for awhile, like having reasons to go into Iraq, but sooner or later the truth comes out. Mass-population control in the past was massive military exhibitions and large stadiums with screaming dictators rallying the emotions of a million pions. Today, it's flashy graphics and war drums beating on your television. Soon this will be fragmented as we have more and more alternative media sources online and the technology to get it to the masses. Last edited by decypher; Jul 11, 07 at 03:12 PM. |

If it was, then they really fucking suck at their job of controlling the media and should be replaced since Bush has one of the lowest approval ratings in the history of the country. |

I think that Fox/CNN and a host of other reporters are getting too pally-pal with the Washington Bigwigs, and therefore are only getting a glimpse of what the major crises are from their standpoint, and as such getting a very biased opinion of what's going on in the world. Stewart called Crossfire right out on it, saying that all they were doing was associating in letting politicians get caught up in their own delusions of grandeur so that any actual discovery during debate is completely muffled by ad hominems and assertions based on assumptions and fabrications.
Saw Dan Rather on Bill Maher and he said about as much, that what was depicted in the 70s movie Network has come to pass: The news media is now controlled by the same divisions as the entertainment media, which doesn't care about journalistic integrity, just ratings. He said something along the lines of (I'm paraphrasing): A journalist needs to be an outsider, someone lurking in the shadows. It becomes really difficult to sit at a politician's dinner table, eat their food, enjoy their company, and then turn around and criticize their policies and their political actions the next day in the newspaper. We're not looking at conspiracy, we're just looking at the erosion of the Media-controlled age. Or at least from the television media-controlled age. Expect public perception of the newsmedia to change within the next 15 years. Hopefully this means a lot more critical thinking coming into play when people approach the news. That would be a Good Thing. |

CNN does that all the time, trys to focus on the "DRAMA" of lindsey lohan rather than talk about REAL things going on in this world. Than you've got Nancy Gray chacing Ambulances with raped babies in it. When there was billions of dollars that went missing because some idiot sent it over seas and lost it on some random planes in Iraq, everyone was too busy talking about anne nicoles death.. like that was a life changing thing for us all! Even though the president just lost all this money and people are dying EVERYDAY at a war we really have to ask if it's worth fighting! |
