try reseting the bios... when your in the bios it should tell you what button to reset the bios (Normally F9). Then save and exit and restart
Try doing a power cycle... Disconnect the power cable and hold on the power button for a minute... Reconnect... hopfully it should turn on.. Also disconnect any other third party devices hooked up to it (ie: printers, scanners, etc..) start it up and see what happens... If these don't work and you are still having a blinking cursor then it can be quite possible that the mbr (master boot record) on the hdd is messed up.. Are there any beeps coming from the computer? if so how many beeps and how long are the beeps? |

its not a bios issue because 1) you most likely didnt change any settings in your bios and 2) your system gets past your bios diagnostics during bootup
sounds like a harddrive failure. perhaps a corrupt boot sector. boot off your windows cd and run some diagnostics from the repair menu. if nothing fixes it you might have to either buy a new hd or reformat Last edited by LEEROY CHANG!!; Nov 05, 07 at 03:00 PM. |
