my last reply was a little bitchy, but keep in mind I was talking about who was a better DEBATOR. Sometimes being excellent at DEBATES does not necessarily make you a better CANDIDATE. Why not actually take some time to watch a debate and come back and contribute something relevant to that topic? My OP was just about DEBATING skills. If you want to take the piss out of hilary, you can start a new thread or post a reply on your own. Thx :) Last edited by miss.myra; Feb 04, 08 at 09:53 AM. |

Hillary's slipping in polls, so she turns on the waterworks again... TWICE!
So far that's thrice she's dealt with slips in popularity by crying. And what'd I say? Now leading NY feminist groups want nothing to do with her and have thrown their support behind Obama. Fucking hell. Is she trying to set female stereotypes back 30 years? Is this how she plans on dealing with dwindling global respect for the US? Throw a few tears their way? They'll laugh you out the country. Get a grip on your emotions, woman. Nobody wants a victim for a president. |

Obama gets Republican support too!
Let's face it kids. If Obama wins the primary the dems get into the white house. |

If Barack Obama let out the waterworks, the whole world wouldn't react the same way. They would applaud him on being 'in touch with his emotions' and every major news outlet/political blog probably wouldn't even make a story out of it. What does that say? |

the best part is the first time the woman cried on the campaign trail, it was seriously news. it was all over all of the major news outlets as this top story. Are we supposed to be shocked every single time a democrat candidate feels any emotion whatsoever? You'd have better luck passing that off as 'news' following the Republican campaign :P

but hey clearly this has nothing to do with gender or repulican bias as we saw an equal amount of media coverage and dicks on the internet when mittens cried.

ooh ok, i get it, Romney cries and it's honorable and insightful, but the Hilary crying story was more concerned with what she was wearing

If Romney can cry, so can Hilary. Also, do you think democratic supporters care about the commander in chief of their military more than other things? Think about that one. |

She's slipped in the polls twice since the primaries started. Once in Iowa and Obama is taking over all the Super Duper Tuesday polls. Both times she's pulled waterworks.
I don't think Romney pulling waterworks is any better, honestly. I don't think the democratic supporters care that much, no. But I'm looking at November, not just tomorrow. Crying might get you a party nomination but it doesn't get you elected as head of state to the biggest nuclear power of the world. |

I personally believe the American people would feel refreshed to have a president that actually had emotions. Even if I'm not a Clinton or Romney supporter, I don't see anything wrong with a few tears.
woosh, if only we could get a discussion this exciting going on about Canadian politics! |

Remember that America is a country that was forged in battle. Most of the states are protected by militias to this day and second-amendment rights (to bear arms) are still held as one of the nearest and dearest rights. They're first and foremost a military country and always have been. The fact that their most recent administration went a little overboard with it doesn't change what they've thought of their country since birth. They're fighters. Particularly the southern and midwestern votes. Which wouldn't be a problem if these weren't the major swing voters that decide elections. |

I think the main reason why Obama's campaign is gaining so much momentum is because he represents a very obvious (in keeping with his slogan) change. I mean, you only have look at him.
Regardless of Hilary's ability or inability to lead a nation, to a lot of people she doesn't really represent change. Voting Hilary in will mean the country will have had the same two families leading it since 1989. I love this cheesy video. On an unrealted note. Why does a person get called "black" if they're biracial? White mother, black (Kenyan) father. He is just as black as he is white. Last edited by diva; Feb 04, 08 at 09:20 PM. |

Alright, just to derail this thread back to politics instead of race (*sigh*):
Barack Obama | Change We Can Believe In | Faith I just watched this video, and here is the most telling line of the entire thing: "We all have a part in this conversation: Jew and Christian, Muslim and Hindu, believer and non-believer alike, because while I'm a Christian, I don't believe that religious folks have a monopoly on morality."
