No suggestions for your puzzle...but man would it ever be cool to have a visual search function in google, where instead of searching for words you could search for images based on shapes, colours, proportions, etc.
That would be so handy, especially since people always label images differently. |

That's cool if you don't agree, it is an overanalysis.. but I'm sensing hostitlity, what's up with that? |

And it's NOT that crazy of a concept really, we hardly use the internet to its fullest potential. Right now it is generally a glorified form of traditional text, with the odd annoying flash/video clip (not to mention tons of porn). I have to create a website as part of my microhistory course, and my prof is encouraging us to do better than most other academic websites already out there. (Example: instead of slapping a paper online with the odd picture and link, make it so that every citation is accessible in its original context without having to scroll down to the footnotes/endnotes. That way the person reading it can choose to continue reading, or stop to do their own research and prove you wrong, or build on your thesis and what have you.) So why stop there? There's tons that can be improved in the online world. |

Put it this way, your analysis reminded me of this: Grad Student Deconstructs Take-Out Menu | The Onion - America's Finest News Source Now if a bunch of people came up to that guy and went "Wow, your analysis of that menu was AWESOME MAN! GOOD JOB!!!", I'd tee off on them too. No it wasn't. It's a fucking menu at a cheap ass burrito store. Analyzing it to that extent isn't "finding meaning", it's just, well, "some deranged OCD bullshit". Playing Devil's advocate, calling a spade a spade, trying to shake people up a bit... pick your cliche. That's how I'd explain the hostility, although I doubt any of that is going to make me your best friend. As for the too much time on your hands comment.. well.... how long DID you stare at those photos??? |

It should be pretty damn obvious by now that criticising OTHERS is the easy part. Anyone can do it, and an intelligent person can easily do it without resorting to accusing someone of having "OCD" or having "too much time on their hands" (though I do in fact, as I am on reading break, hehe). So instead of wasting your time trying to elevate your own self-esteem by criticising my harmless suggestion, why don't you step it up a notch and propose your own alternate theory?. While you hurl out insults I was only trying to help the thread starter. What exactly are you trying contribute? |
