PETA's new ads.
"The new billboards for the U.S.-based People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals shows the face of a young woman on one side and a pig's face on the other. In between is the slogan: "Neither Of Us Is Meat.''"
http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNew...ub=CTVNewsAt11 I'm sorry...But I find this really offensive. I'm all for vegetarianism/veganism as a lifestyle choice, but I don't want to be inundated with their bad taste and militant agenda every morning on my way to work. If you have a problem with the ad as well, use the link below to complain to Ad Standards Canada. They can't do anything about the ads unless the public complains. http://www.adstandards.com/en/Standards/submission.asp This is a copy of the ad in question (sorry...I'm at work and can't change the file from a pdf.): |

No shit. It's exactly what they were hoping for. But if enough people email complaints, it won't go through. |

I don't find the ad any more offensive then the 'I'd rather go Naked then wear fur' ads ..and I certainlly don't find it any more offensive the the barage of boobs shoved in my face that sell everything from fashion to craft-matic beds
I eat meat. But i think as a meat eater many of us would like to forget where our food comes from - that meat isn't 'grown' despite that being to term used to describe it -- Meat comes from animals - living breathing, sometimes snuggly and cute animals - that are kept often in cruel conditions and then killed so I can eat them. This billboard is hardly something that i would get worked up over...those pro-life ones I saw in victoria however...have me steaming |

Normally I don't give a rats ass about PETA. I'm not Anti-PETA by any stretch. I just think that those billboards are rubbing salt in an open wound. |

(To be perfectly honest though, if it wasn't so expensive (and with the exception of a slice of bacon now and then), I could probably be pesco-vegetarian.) |

i read on this in the papper. what peta has learned is they need effective ways to grab attention. this works.
in the Sun they said that so far major billboard companies have refused the ad. so you have little to worry about. and for the record yes i am a vegan and peta supporter. Last edited by strawberr_E; Apr 08, 04 at 04:52 AM. |

That's the problem though...Like fuck, come on now...They did the same thing in Iowa with relation to Dahmer's victims. Is nothing sacred? These families have suffered enough with the loss of their loved ones in horrific ways. Why should they be forced to see a billboard everyday to remind them (as if they could forget anyways)?
I mean, if they want to advertise this in the US, whatever...Do what you want. But the wounds relateing to those women are still gapingly open in Canada. |

Plus, I'm sure there are ad companies in Vancouver that only care about the money and not about the expliotation of murdered women. |

that ad is very wrong
but I also think Peta is out to lunch most of the time someone choosing not to eat meat? thats fine, no problem there trying to push your opinion on millions of people using shock value no dice Peta has noble ideas and saving animals, but humans are carnivors (hence the incisors and canines)we are born to eat meat, but I digress. I think the ad should be removed Quote:
