Gobal: Fixed... Totally forgot about that and went a little over my head.(Although they've posted the event on public forums anyways) I know Jaimie... Max, Ben and Keenan as well..
Alot of people may think that Dubstep is all about a "wobbly" bassline... or this and that... but really its not. Whether its Trillbass to Skream to Random Trio To Shackleton... Its all dubstep. ATM Skream and Loefah are not doing it for me... IMO they have been lacking content... But really can't blame them considering there is such a high demand for them to play gigs all over the place. |

Lets stand back and take a moment and look at who (on an international scale) has made a transition from there original genre to dubstep or are making steps...
DJ Lord.... (Hip Hop) Hank Shocklee (Hip Hop) Chase & Status (DNB) Martyn (DNB) Technical Itch (DNB) Evol Intent (DNB Marcus Visionary (DNB) Jawbone (DNB) Tipper (DNB) The list go's on... Something give's don't it... |

Totally cool man. I noticed that Patrick had a commented on it in his thread about selling dubstep shirts. The rules may be relaxing a bit as the scene moves slowly above ground. Good thing or bad?
I personally want the sound to reach as many ears as possible but I am also wary of the effects that can have. We'll just have to wait and see. |

i don't think dupstep will ever "crossover" or anything, but it's definitely overtaken scenes like dnb already in this city.
What i like is the cross-section of people you see (likely because it's still a new sound). I like that it appeals equally to dnb heads, reggae/dub heads, and even the minimal techno crowd. |

Let alone there are undergrounds I would never even mention about. I know that at the beginning everyone wanted to keep things up and including the dubforms series to be discreet... However with dubstep reaching boundaries its being a little bit more open. |

Blues.
Calypso. Ska. Rocksteady. Reggae. dUb. Dancehall. Raggamuffin. Jungle (hardcore dUb on jib). Krunk. dUbstep (Jungle revisits reggae, w/ a spliff). Yeeeeaaahhhh, mon! It a true: dUbstep be awlll about da baayss, seen? Ya gott to heeere it trou a propah thumpah systehm, ya know? Jah! And, like what was referred to, the reason this sound is getting big is because all the jungle-crackers are starting to get older and are more willing to chill, rather than spazz to that "dnb"-shyte. Frosty (grooves hard to slammin' basslines) |

I definitely agree that dubstep is best on a proper sound system inna dancehall...
However, I don't think that's the only way it can be enjoyed. I listen to lots of dubstep mixes on my iPod that sound fantastic. For example, check Roko's Heartbroken in Leytonstone dubstepforum.com :: View topic - STUDIO - ROKO - Heartbroken In Leytonstone [320kbps mix] Also, I just can't get enough of Micapam's Lion Mix: micapam | j.l.b » lion mix And oh, hey, I still regularly get props for Sub.Dub.Bass: http://woodnsoo.com/socool/Sub.Dub.Bass.mp3 Those mixes are all a bit on the older side. But the future of dubstep looks bright as well, as evidenced by the recent Shadow Jugglers radio show featuring Hexadecibel : ) Last edited by socool; Jun 25, 08 at 07:06 PM. |

I think it does take hearing it on a big system at a jam to let it get into you properly initially. There is definately sub par Dubstep (there is with any genre), but with Dubstep, when it misses it really misses me.
I really like the bass, some of the wobble, but the sub-bass!!!. What I also really like is the percussion and drums in some Dubstep. Some songs have a lot of emphasis on these elements, really crunchy beating kits and lots of shakers and high hats creating great patterns. I like a lot of the steppy stuff too! There are a lot of vibes and styles within Dubstep which is very enjoyable. I don't really know too much about names and all that, but I have had quite a bit of fun at the jams I have been to! Also, big up Sev on making some awesome tunes!! |
