am i the only one who finds DubStep boring?

I don't know, i feel like i have given it a fair shot. listened to a fair amount or tried too anyways but i just can't get into it, i'm finding most of what i am hearing some what anoying and difficult to pay attention too? it's like the same weird noises over and over.
what am i missing? it seems to be gaining popularity in vancouver or maybe its just the people with the energy to put on shows like it?
i'm completly at a loss for whats driving its following?
To be fair i havent really heard it on a proper system, so maybe that would help but seriously what the fuck?
ZzzzzZZZzzzzz.....;)

The R has a little shameless behaviour in the past
neither do i

its the type of music that sounds totally different on a bad ass sound system..

only thing i really enjoyed was skreams essential mix.

There's some good tunes and producers out there. But to totally "get it" you need to hear it on a proper system.

I wasn't really too sure about it until I was at a Dubstep Jam in Toronto. When you can feel the bass liquify your spleen it's a lot better.

Yeah... It all comes down to listening to it on a proper system... Your home stereo... headphones.. car stereo will not do any justice... thats for sure.

On the other half... you also have different artists with different style's of dubstep... You will never hear Excision.. TrillBass.. Lonewolf... Ital Tek play anything from Skream, Benga, Rusko.... etc. and vise versa

The styles are completely different... The same thing go's for Shackleton... Martyn... TRG... Appleblim... Peverlist

or Kode 9, Burial, Dub Child, Toasty, Search & Destroy....

There are tons of other artists out there that is responsible for bringing the sound forward. You just gotta keep an ear out and check out a show in town that has a proper system

To me it sounds like drum and bass when it took too much heroin.

Don't really like to go too dark these days. There's a big difference from dark house to the scary shit known as Dubstep.

to my ear there's way more weak shit than good, but i'm feelin the good stuff. the stuff i like best is generally by Skream, Loefah, Marlow, Scuba... not exactly the most underground of the genre but i figure these guys are big for a reason.

Agreed. I liked it a little but didn't fully start enjoying until I got to hear it on a proper system, and now I'm lovin it.
There's plenty of meh tracks out there, but there's also some really good ones. :)

Dubstep having a little bit of a psychedelic feel sounds like hallucinogen indub

and I can totally dig it. But, on a loud system, having it on my ipod is a waste.

Wow there's alot of people here who don't seem to care for dubstep too much.
Question though...any of you ever been to proper show?
250-300 peeps, 6-18" subs, and say....Taal Mala??
Very reminisent of the hype that DNB used to create, without the shitty attitudes.
Dubstep took the bass music scene back underground...where it belongs.
I think alot of people here(not all) just haven't been to the right shows, if any at all.

**EDIT***General consensus...check out a real show with a real system before passing final judgement. There's one this weekend.

I think alot of people sometimes center dubstep around Skream, Loefah, Benga, and Coki... When really there is more to it.

As per whether or not the scene has peaked yet?... Difficult to say. We'll need to wait when DZ (who recently moved to vancity) is done his tour and see what he is going to contribute out to the scene.

Its great to see how the scene is growing in the city... I mean just look at the contributors that are moving it forward.
Lighta! / Sub Osc
Konspiracy Group / Art of Beatz
Royal Platoon
Thursday Night's "Ting" w/ Tank Girl and Guests
Shadow Jugglers
I.G.U
Bias Group / Fixed Fridays

Sorry if I may have forgotten any other crews... Those are the only one's at the top of my head... but the list continue's to grow every 6 months.

So I think this says alot where dubstep is in this city. Its close to peaking... but haven't peaked yet...

I enjoy some of the popular artists but theres a lot of newbs out there that really seem to take over the sound. I have to say I enjoy it more when its played in a creative way(in a multi genre set or with an acapella dropped over)

^ like anything else, as soon as it becomes hot, the me-too's start trying to cash-in and copying the sound in an attempt to get a piece of the pie ultimately diluting the sound.

What gets to me is all the dnb people that talked mad shit about dubstep a year or two ago are now "experimenting" with making tunes and DJing sets.

total bandwagon jumpers. i remember three years ago i played dubstep at a house party and people were like uhh this isnt party music can we hear some breaks already? (mind you it was digital mystiks 3 years ago, hardly the wobbly monster dubstep has become)

little did they know

As far as the scene peaking, I think that perhaps dubstep as a type music is becoming generic.
Fortunately for us, the North American Future Bass movement is just begining.
I personally am looking very forward to the next two years, in which, I'm predicting the lines between many genres of music will be smudged and then erased.

I don't think that Skream or Benga would even call the shit that Trill Bass or Excision are making dubstep. Well good. Maybe it isn't dubstep then. We'll make something new. They can keep making dubstep.
