Fun things in Vancouver, pls help!
So I need your help!
I've got a friend visiting for the weekend and a bit and he's never been to our lovely city before. I would like to do some fun things and had a lot of outdoorsy things in mind ( renting bikes for seawall, beach, grouse grind, etc.) but the forecast looks like rain which can sort of foil those plans. What are some other things to do that might be fun in rain or shine? I know I can google it, but I'd like to know based on your own experiences. |

last time i went to planetarium is was pretty weak, the show had literally not changed since i went in grade 1 (lol omg his lunch got left on the projector!) my friend visiting works for NASA so i am sure that might be the last place they want to go hahaha.
you know i've never been to the suspension bridge, is it worth the hype? |

The planetarium is painful and about 10 years behind the times.
My suggestions: Asian malls such as Yohan, and Parker Place are a blast to go through with someone who hasn't been exposed to things like that regularly. And they normally feature stupidly cheap food. If you like those weird asian character things, you'll be in heaven. That being said, if the weather is good make sure you check out the night markets. The art gallery has a great show right now (Krazy: Vancouver Art Gallery). Also check out the Vancouver public library's web page. (VPL.ca) They have a ton of events weekly, and some can be really interesting (Not all are book related either). Visit the Yale on Granville Street. A blues bar with a ton of history. I did a documentary of it, and it's a great crowd with tons of bands every night. The Symphony in the park is on Sunday as well! If it's a nice day you will not want to miss it. It's a free show from the Vancouver Symphony. |

Start on granville island. peep out the public market and have a walk around the area that surrounds the island.
Take the aquabus to english bay and walk along the beach, down denman to coal harbor. Take a plane tour around the city (takes 15 minutes and doesn't cost much) and you'll get an amazing one of a kind view of the downtown core. Then go for dinner somewhere with a view (cloud 9 or even the boathouse) or something rediculously ethnic that we take for granted. examples being... tropika, samba steak house, guu... |
