Good places to check out on a friday?

me and a girlfriend from work are looking to head out tonight, possibly downtown but still unsure. Lower mainland ( easy to cab to and from is a must)
Something nice but not too chauchy.. I really dont know of the best places to head to but something kinda mainstream (no boom boom techno)

Good suggestions??

If your company is into sushi (and even if they aren't) check this out.

Brand new menu with all kinds of cool new rolls, drinks and other items.

If they're not into sushi, this may very well convince them to get into it. Otherwise there's tons of other Japanese/Fusion dishes you can get, not to mention a bunch of vegitarian rolls if they're just weirded out by raw fish.
