not really.
if we're not animals then what are we? plants? 5th dimensional beings trapped in the 3rd and 4th dimension? alien spawn? actually, that still would not definitively separate us from animals. aliens would probably be classified as animals as well. what separates us? the extent which we use tools and/or alter the environment around us? that we have higher brain functions or complex emotions (which is totally debatable and science is showing it to be false)? i'm sorry but that's not what defines something as an animal. it's simply a fact that very few people like to acknowledge. |

exactly. and it makes a wonderful debate/discussion.
biolgically, homo sapiens are animals. human beings are a something a little different. the great defining schism between human beings and the animal world is that we are driven by freewill...rather then instinct. it is our free will wich allows us to comprehend the afterlife, love, spirituality ect. BUT, on the other side there are many documented cases of 'ferral' human beings wich have no concept of freewill or human spirituality. they are completely driven by instinct. as desmond morris puts it,were just 'naked apes' |

rights activists, like PETA, who feel they need to push the boundaries of excess to get their message across can become pretty dangerous. as small of an example as it maybe, on Davie when they had the KFC cluckers protesting outside, I walked out with a small box of chicken fries on my way home and nearly had them knocked of my hands by a girl royally in my face over my purchase. it was a stones throw away from assault had I not ignored her.

... but dicks also fuck assholes....
PETA are such BS. Hypocrites all of them. I pretty much rank them right next to Scientologists for "Brainwashed fuckwads not really doing anything to further the agenda they preach, which is questionable on their best points" Penn & Teller did a kickass episode of Bullshit on them. I recommend everybody watch it. |

I'm not surprised by this. Usualy the message from said ads refers to the killing of the innocent... Which animals are indeed innocent. PETA has some intense and radical ways to get their point accross... their marketing campaign tactics are borrowed from those of the meat and cigarrette industry. The roumour of saying that PETA may print an ad like this is brilliant. They just like to stir the pot and do it extremely well. Just like the McDonald's ads "Big mac's,,, they have people talking" PETA just eats that shit up (not litterally) and do the same right back. Its a war of words to create debate. Not that I agree with most of what PETA does... they've always been a bunch of punks.
Ingrid Newkirk (PETA CEO and co-founder) is definetely a cooky-crazy gal. When she dies she's going to have a BBQ with her on the menu just too see if people are like "wow that smells tantelizing" just to create more intense and radical debate which in the long run will just end up dividing and narrowing points of view as oppose to conjoining and broadening prespective. |

Using celeberties to sell their propaganda is a good way to get the word out there. The warm sound of Alec Baldwins voice in their doc is highly inspiring lol. |
