1.) Are cops here extremely strict?
2.) Are there any cool things i must check out? 3.) Can cops be bought off like in thailand and vietnam etc, in case i get in shit? like for small stuff like being drunk in public 4.) Are there any good electronica clubs out here? preferably some play that plays electro? I'm in Istanbul right now, and it's expensive as fuck.. i didn't do my research before coming here i just wung it like i usually do... but i need some suggestions on places to check out.. any suggestions would be appreciated... I'm here for 2 weeks so i have plenty of time to do shit |

Myra: I wish i could, but i am here for only a couple weeks in Turkey then i'm off to Dubai for a week and then back to Van
Went and checked out the princess islands and that was really cool... It's insane that there are 2500 mosques in istanbul alone... literally every direction you look there is a mosque or two.. people here are absolutely amazing.... haven't met nicer people anywhere.. one thing that really sucks is the humidity and the heat... and the fact that taxis dont turn on their AC because of gas prices.... you can't be outside for too long before you feel extremely sticky and gross... cats are fucking everywhere... and pidgeons are suicidal... they don't get off the road when cars are coming are get creamed on the regular... the architecture in turkey is breathtaking.... so much history and very well preserved buildings |

took a hour train to Ankara... it was pretty cool, but i wouldn't recommend it...
still blown away by how friendly people are here.. we had some errands to run here, and we asked 1 guy for directions and he was like "he're i'll take you there" .. so i assumed it was really close... ended up being 30 minutes away and he kept having to stop and ask other people for directions.. so its not like he was even sure where it was but he put in a lot of effort to help us out... and we had to fight with him at the end to accept some money from us, so its not like his main motive for helping was to make money.. tip to people travelling to turkey in the future : Don't ever leave something in a cab... I was standing outside my hotel when 3 people from australia came, and then they realized that they forgot one of their bags in the taxi.. and in istanbul pretty much every car you see on the road is a taxi.... the problem with retrieving your belongings though, is that there is no taxi company... each taxi is private so you can't call a dispatcher and give them details for them to help you out.. you're shit out of luck... the guy had ALL his money in that bag and all his identification and everything... luckily for him, the taxi driver opened his bag.. found a cellphone and started calling everyone on his recent calls list and ended up calling one of the guys that was with him and the taxi guy came and brought all his stuff back.. bring tums or some other type of stomach stuff... it had taken me almost a week for my stomach to become accustomed to the food here... free washrooms are virtually non existant... you have to pay about 60-75 cents to use every washroom... and they are the asian style squatting toilets... and none of them have toilet paper, they have this thing of water you use to clean yourself... err... pour on yourself... you know what i mean... actually not that bad once you become used to it people drive like maniacs here, so don't think you can come here and rent a car and casually drive around sightseeing... nobody stays in the lines on the road and they zig zag through eachother worse then when you are gocarting... yet nobody seems to crash... all really crazy drivers, but good drivers.. |
