Im aware that gas is going up, airport taxes are insane, companies are going bankrupt, and booking online is usually cheaper than seeing an agent.

BUT im wondering if I book far in advance if there is anyone who can give me some tips or can help find me a good deal.

Im looking for a cheep flight to London from Vancouver
Depart December 19th
Return Jan 4th/5th

I know its Christmas time which doe'snt help, but its the only time I get off work and have to be back in time for school.

^But I dont want to pay full price. There are ppl out there who can get deals. You obviously dont and dont need to reply.

Just wondering if anyone knows whats up with Airtransat or STA? Airtransat doesnt seem to come up on any of the online sites and STA is no longer apart of Canada?

Air Transat only flies to Europe during the Summer. Right now is the transition into their Caribbean, Mexico and South American routes.

All Charter Airlines like Transat, Skyservice etc follow this pattern. When it's cold, they fly to where it's warm and when it's warm they fly to Europe. This is where they make the cash. Since you want to fly to Europe in the Winter you are pretty much limited to regular large carriers like the Star Alliance etc.

Sorry Rhia, but flying to London for Xmas is going to be really difficult to get a cheap price on.

In a world where fuel prices are skyrocketing the way they are, airlines are closing left right & center, and TSA is getting more and more restrictive on airlines, getting a discount flight during the holiday season is about as likely as Ron Paul securing the Republican nomination in the next couple of days. I think his point is rather valid.

It's the busiest air travel season of the year, and currently demand is much much much higher than supply. Good luck.

that usually only works when you're flying elsewhere in the states.

Seattle is pretty much the same price as Van. It would have to be at least $250 cheaper to make it worth it. Ive even thought about finding a cheap flight to Toronto or Montreal and than find a flight to London, but even then there flights arnt that much cheaper :?

This sucks :(

If you have a credit card that you use a lot (that has a reward/points system) you could maybe try using your points...

I use my credit card a lot (and pay it off at the end of every month) for that reason. I know people who've earned enough points for trips to Europe.

How do you figure that?

A 767 with a cruising speed of 461 knots, following a standard Great Circle routing will take 8:57 to arrive in London-Gatwick. The same Aircraft going to Gatwick from Toronto will arrive in 6:44.
