A Question about Flying to the States
Hey guys, this is kinda a silly question to direct to you guys but the air canada customer care line is tied up and the wait time is 15 minutes. I don't have many minutes on my cell so I'm wondering if someone knows the answer...
I booked my flight using my first and last legal name but missed out my middle name. I know they want your name on the photo id you are using to match the ticket name. On my passport, it obviously says my middle name. Would that be a problem? It's not that I've never flown to the states before, but I think previously I've always included my legal middle name as it appears on my passport so it was never an issue. I just booked this flight sort of at spurr of the moment so I wasn't thinking. I just don't want any problems at the airport. Any thoughts? -Yoko |

dabbler^,
Yeah, I think so too and I hope to god you're right. I guess I'm a very detail-picky person so this makes me nervous: " The name on the ID must match the passenger name as it appears on the ticket." -air canada website. My flight attendant friend is not home :( darnit! |

^thx rawb.
I googled it apparently other people have asked the same question. I'm thinking if it were such a big deal, more people would know about it because there would be a bigger fuss made about it by the general public. I'm gonna take my chances, no way I'm waiting for someone to pick up the phone at customer care.... |

You'll be fine with your first and last name as I never use my middle names when booking a flight.
I don't know where you are flying to but pack some snacks in your carryon bag as they don't give you anything but a small drink during the flight. Earplugs and a inflatable neck support help too. |

Didn't read any further than original post, so sorry if I'm repeating.
Yoko, I book dozens of flights a day (do this for a living) and usual policy (and what I do EVERY SINGLE TIME) is book under the passengers first and last name. I have never used a passenger's middle name, and have only seen it done if their name is like John Smith or something. If a client "goes by" their middle name I still insist on using their legal first and last. So in other words, you're good. |
