We discussed zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance in my new media class, isn't it kind of obsolete now though? Everything is chip enabled now for the sake of profit. I mean I understand the concept but my fiance owns a Buell firebolt and it's pretty much impossible to do any work on it, even purchasing the service manuel cost an additional $60

Computer nerds are the new car & bike hobbyist. This is a comparison that's been made countless times. Neal Stephenson made it often in his In The Beginning Was The Command Line essay. |

besides alot of the work can be done without even touching the computer, and if your automotive savy you can buy add ons and standalone ecu's so you can control everything yourself. my buddy has a standalone system for his car he can reprogram everything with his laptop. people who say cars are all dominated by the computers so manufacturers can charge 90 bucks an hour for service are just ignorant. also as to what rawb said all this information is out there, the internet is a great way to find it. |

when you think about it, technology has created societies from the very beginning. The success of a civilization has always relied on adaptability, it's human nature. Adaptability is taking the things around you and learning to work with them to make life easier in some way. Thooooousands of years ago, it was stone tools and irrigation systems. With the wealth of knowledge and information that is readily available now, it becomes more complex but still plays just as important a role.
Is technology dangerous? yes. have you ever seen maximum overdrive? |

At least in our less technologically advanced ignorance, we pulled up the blinds to see if it was raining instead of checking out The Weather Network's website.
