you mean, building my own electronic sound devices from 2 transistors, a capacitor and a couple resisters and a speaker is electronica? and my own light show from odd numbers of transistors (minimum of 3) daisy-chained via capacitors as a delayed line loop and red LEDs?

haha well guys this obviously isn't the only part of the course
rhia- its a really bad course...i've taken like every soc class cap has to offer and this is by far the worst...i had to go back and do it cuz I wouldnt transfer to ubc-o otherwise... but its soc 101....all about the theorists...my teacher is cool though, rita osoli gordon bailey is an amzing prof dont know if hes there or not anymore..also noga gayle amazing ( sociology of the developing world is my fave) graham cook however....SUCKS and is lame boring ahole |

I love Rita, I just had her for Sociology of Media
Graham Cook is hit or miss, I really enjoyed his classes because of the people that were in that class, the debates were solid. He actually turned me onto sociology but he's a difficult marker. I hate Rita's exams though, papers are ok but her multiple choice kills me Courtney, are you going to be at Cap next semester? What classes are you taking? |
|
|||
^ yeah I have bitter/ personal issues with graham cook and his lack of understanding with especially since hes a sociologist.......just not impressed with him overall as a teacher or a human being for that matter..but it goes much deeper than just hating his teaching styles :p
yeah i have a rita exam on wed It should be ok but i prefer all essays! i didnt know u went there..and its my last semester...i've actually only been taking 2 classes there plus 3 correspondence...but im off to ubc okanogan in a few weeks actually! woop |

Did you know most kids in third world countries are more survival savvy than the typical kid of developed nations is at 5?
Tho, kids under 6 are guerilla nudists at heart! Last edited by jenai; Dec 08, 08 at 07:44 AM. Reason: chidlren of developed nations who are not homeless and poor are less survival oriented than their "deprived" peers. |

Sociology is best learned as a volunteer at a soup kitchen or clerk at the local health clinic next door to the homeless shelter.
IMHO it can't be learned in a library studying for Soc finals, or by puking your guts out at your umpteenth XMas party after classes close for the holidays. The former is the method to become classroom fodder if frosh, while the latter is actually Beer 101, which is condoned by the LDB. Nor can you learn sociology working for a corporation; you only learn how to market a product more effectively. Only through social activism is sociology experienced first-hand. All classroom instruction is to condition you to condone bad science. Last edited by jenai; Dec 08, 08 at 05:00 PM. Reason: this rant is not endorsed by science, but by MHO. |

Yeah, degrees aren't about real-world experience (with a few exceptions). 90% of the time if you have a degree it's to say that you were able to force yourself through 4 years of classes without anybody telling you to do your work.
Unless you're going into computing, engineering or trades nobody really cares what you take post-secondary. |
