i've helped throw small events at this location for many years, with several promoters. we worked hard at building a good reputation with rangers and RCMP, by following the leave-no-trace philosophy and having respect for the land. we were rewarded with a beautiful free venue where we had many small (75-200 person) parties over the years. cedar sky 2 was going to happen this weekend (sept 18-20) but now we have to cancel because of the moronic fuckwits from summer breaks.

i'm especially choked because i have seen SO many venues get ruined over the last 10 years by selfish, inconsiderate asshole promoters. mile 36, crystal creek and squamish campground are just recent examples of an old problem. it's always the same pattern: 1) someone works hard to find a new venue 2) some great small parties happen there 3) some prick tries to profit off a massive event and ruins the venue for everyone. raves get a bad reputation in the media and the community-oriented promoters get painted with the same brush as sellout, mainstream flailer promoters.

i hope that this "investigation" leads to the promoters of summer breaks getting sued. if not, they should be raped by glowsticks and strangled with bracelets for ruining the venue for all us conscious ravers. but then again, they've probably inhaled so much nose candy over the years that their cracked-out brains would enjoy that kind of punishment. assholes. I think the story is that it was originally 3000 people but then the venue got busted up because they said it was a drum circle, so when they at the last minute put together an alternate venue, they lost their big crowds, and as such they ended up with the Hippie Drum Circle that they originally "envisioned".
