I had the chance to drive up to the location Sunday afternoon to check out the site, from the entrance of the Mamquam Forest Service Road to the event site it very much resembled the morning after Pemberton Festival ended. Didn't need a map to the site, just follow the empty beer cans & trash.
Excellent job to the organizers of this event.
Having worked in film and having direct contacts with Ministry of Forest & Ministry of Environment officials within the Squamish & Chilliwack Forest Districts I was able to get more information about the site.
Any Ministry of Forest park ranger that locates an unauthorized event/party/rave will photograph the vehicles & license plates and notify the local RCMP to pay a visit and shut down the event; Park Rangers have no power or authority to shut down large gathering.
If it is a small event, birthday party/wedding party etc organizers that choose to continue with the event, will have their names & drivers licenses recorded and be held liable for the property. If the site isn't left in pristine condition after you have vacated the site, you will be sent a clean up bill in the mail along with a photograph of your vehicle providing evidence that you were there.
Much like what happened to Mile 36, anyone planning on throwing any other events in the future in the Squamish or Chilliwack Forest Districts or on Ministry of Forest property will be met with large boulders blocking your paths.
If a logging road has been deactivated and has no future use by the Ministry of Forest or its forestry parties, large boulders, concrete blocks or yellow gates will be used to block the entrances to prevent further use of that area. This also screws campers and 4x4 enthusiasts.
