I am not concerned. Also dabs, referencing the death toll in mexico for the H1N1 is kind of wack cuz doesnt mexico have super poor infrastructure and a lot of marginalized peeps living at or below the poverty level(less access to proper healthcare etc)?? That being said, obv the fatalities would be higher based on those contributing factors which can make or break a "pandemic". |

swine flu or not, I can not control and have no desire to control my vitality. What happens in life happens for good reason. If it is Gods will that I die before my child lives a full life, there is little I can do to change it. This is my spiritual beleif. It is my emotional beleif and acknowledgement that my daughter is well loved and cared for by many people in our extended family...including her step mother. I have grown past my selfish transgressions in regards to parenting and love and have had the great opportunity to see the many different dynamics of love between parent and child and step parent and child. Your views regarding parentins are dogmatic at best, please spare me. |

You can't control everything in the world but you can mitigate risks.

If you had, wouldn't that be pretty much be contradictory to this whole argument? I don't want a swine flu vaccine, because if I get it and die it's god's will. However I will gladly go to the hospital for other incidents... |

Im sorry I didnt know my beleif in God made me religious. I must have missed the memo that spirtuality and religion are now synonymous.
Thanks for clearing that one up Jay dabbler! I understand the concept of a vaccine in a developing country with poor infrastructure. I do not understand the concept of a vaccine in a developed North American country that was created over a matter of months for a flu virus that will maybe make me miserable for about a week. Because I do not beleive in vaccines does not mean I do not beleive in medicine. Do I beleive the health care industry is fuelled by the pharmaceutical companies? Absolutely. That is why I question the integrity of the medical field, and question their motives. Maybe if pharmaceutical companies disclosed the exact chemistry of the vaccinations, Id flog them hard and sloppy like you kids do. Last time I checked they didnt, they only disclose the method...kind of. anywhore... |

Speaking from experience, H1N1 stays with you a LOT longer than a week. And as I've now discovered, it resurfaces later with another fever and cough. With a week of feeling ok in the middle of it, I'm now at 30 days of being sick and I have no complications that would have caused it to stick around.
as for my last comment, I'm sorry my English was so bad; I will re-write it for you. Trying to point out hypocrisy in religious/spiritual views [anyone who puts BLIND FAITH in Destiny or God (both in capitals mind you)] is like shooting fish in a barrel. I suppose I just have issues with blind faith in general. |

And I didn't say you were religious, so I'm not sure why you took the ball and ran that way with it. I simply said, if you are going to pull the "It's gods will if I get sick and die" then the fact that you've taken your child to the doctor's pretty much means you've already gone against god's will. I also implied you have no conecpt of what a vaccine is... |

oh and BTW they do release the ingredients. Just like anything that you find in the supermarket in Canada, it doesn't say the amount of each but here you are [GlaxoSmithKline supplies Canada with all of it's Flu Vaccines]
What are the ingredients of the H1N1 vaccine and adjuvant? The H1N1 vaccine Arepanrix has been developed by GlaxoSmithKline using the egg-based production method. This means the vaccine viruses are grown in eggs. This is true for the regular flu shot as well. The manufacturer states the level of ovalbumin (egg protein) in the adjuvanted vaccine is generally below 5-10 ng/mL. The ovalbumin level is not yet available for the unadjuvanted version of the vaccine, which will be offered to pregnant women. (For egg and other allergy concerns, be sure to read: H1N1 and Food Allergies.) The vaccine has two components that are mixed together before the vaccine is given. The primary substance is the antigen drug substance for immunizing. It is administered with an adjuvant known as AS03. The antigen contains: thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative used in the manufacturing of multidose vaccines, sodium chloride, disodium hydrogen phosphate, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, potassium chloride and water. As mentioned, there are traces of egg protein, and also of formaldehyde, sodium deoxycholate and sucrose. The adjuvant AS03 is composed of: DL-alpha-tocopherol (vitamin E), squalene (shark liver oil) and polysorbate 80 (an emulsifier). In addition, its vial contains: sodium chloride, disodium hydrogen phosphate, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, potassium chloride and water. (For fish, soy allergy concerns, see H1N1 and Food Allergies.) Last edited by dabbler; Nov 20, 09 at 04:06 PM. |

on a somewhat related note, I emailed Kraft once to ask what kind of meat was used in their pepperoni pizza. They didn't know.
Seriously, this was the email correspondence... I'm curious to know if the pepperoni used on pizza is made with Beef? _________ Thank you for visiting http://www.kraftcanada.com. I understand that knowing what ingredients are in the food products you eat directly affect how you practice your lifestyle, and Kraft Foods does all that it can to assist its consumers in making educated food decisions. I apologize but unfortunately we can only recommend that you check the ingredient list on the packaging. No other ingredient information is available. Thank you for contacting us and please add our site to your favourites and visit us again soon! Kim McMiller Associate Director, Consumer Relations |

Let's not get into the semantics of breaking down the ingredients on the side of the box. I'll stand in the isle at the store and read the shit out of anything before putting it in the cart. For example I only drink a single malt scotch! |
