Not being of age and not being able to get in are two entirely different things.

Have a venue w/o a liquor license and then its all good.
The concept you're talking about is an all-ages club. Why bother with the all-ages when the people can garner a shitload more cash by simply snagging liquor license?

The scene is too infiltrated with 15-year-olds anyways. Filtering down to people who can get their hands on a fake ID is, IMHO, a good thing.

If you're not willing to make an effort to get to something, then why bother going at all?

I know this has been said before, but at lest even if all the big raves went the way of the Dodo, there's still clubs where big acts still can play.

Don't for forget PNE, big out door parties, places yet unheard of. (of example there was a time before Plaza, the all ages scene did alright) Heck even some time mid sized parties(400-800) can have a sick act or two,,, ok so they don't have 2-4 of them.

This next point is kinda a side issue, some people might agree other will sware blindly I'm wrong. But really has 1/2 the *big* acts at the plaza been that good any way? I mean DJ's or artist really doing some thing different or really having the skill far about the rest to warent the image? More or less, most locals or nobodies can rock the house just the same as some big name. But because we are told they're better we some how treat it as specal.

This is what really eats at me about people talking about "talent" at the Plaza of Nations.

So far the only people that have at all consistently brough fresh original and talented acts that actually do something different than the locals has been Agroculture. And Agroculture is down with the smaller parties as well. Not to mention Dave's a little cutie. *wink wink*

I'm miffed I missed Keoki this year, but last year I was definately there to catch Rabbit in the Moon, just because it's a group of exceedingly talented DJs who don't just do the same thing as everybody else (it was a mild let-down, though... that's my review of it. Was nice, but could've been oh so much better).

I remember seeing Baby Doc & SJ a few years back. And man oh man was that a show that bit. SJ being almost the equivalent of a Jungle MC (whilst being a lot hotter) and Baby Doc pressing play on his DAT and waving his hands in the air a whole bunch. Glad that for most of their set I was busy smuggling Dale back into the party and pissing off security in general. And to think that it was probably one of the more "different" sets to hit up the Plaza.

And yeah. As far as I can remember they've never booked Hawtin to play at the Plaza of Nations. So oh well.

sidekick will become famous soon enough
Yeah, good point on the 'big DJ's' not actually being that good most of the time...just riding on their reputation. I know that i always enjoy the music much more when there is some one local playing...seems to be more new and refreshing than the other stuff....

one of my favourites at Kiss was Kyle Nordman..he's a Vancouverite i believe...really good...i defintily wanna go see him more now.
