I NEVER said i was a higher authorityof teh punk, nor do I think I am. But I do listen to the Ramones etc, I do know about the history, and I do have respect for it all. Unlike the fucking teeny boppers buying ramones shirts at Bluenotes because its " a cool saying") p.s. Unles YOU experienced "real punk" in its glory days, then age has nothing to do with this topic or what I said. my point was (for the millionth time) that I at least know who the Ramones are and how important they are, if I was to wear one of their shirts it would not be because it was on sale at some dime a dozen store at the mall without even knowing who they were. If what I said sounded condescending, then tell me that. Claire made the same point as I did, but I don't see you raggin on her. (and where did I mention a super secret underground scene? youre reading way too far into this. I'm not super-oringial-elite. I'm just not a poser) rah rah rah Last edited by MistressSpankME; Mar 21, 04 at 02:15 PM. |

so example kid buys a ramones shirt, kazaas and googles the fuck outta them, digs the sound and realizes he loves punk and what it's about and moves on to rancid, sex pistols, stranglers wtc becoming 'true punk' or something hah i hope that made sense...either way, i think it's kinda cool when big chain stores incorporate the lil less known culture'ish things it introduces a lot of new things to people in a very subtle way, making mankind a little more interesting either way, don't hate....if you're for punk, you'd be happy kids are biting the style cause maybe they'll really get into it and it's one more pro punk in the scene |

^ yes I understand.. Sometimes I feel that way too, but as far as I know that doesn't happen very often. Then again,. there will always be super fake people, and if it truly introduces shit like that to people who end up truly appreciating it, and may never have realized it if afformentioned stores or trends didn't rip it off.. then thats cool too.

robyn, we all got what you were trying to articulate. The point I'm trying to make is that it's not true. But whatever, think what you may. |

Have you met Kelly?
wit? I think not! bitch? I think yes! but in a good way, she speaks her mind and doesn't give two shits, you gotta respect that and, as for my take on the whole 'punk' topic at hand: IT'S CALLED FASHION it has nothing to do with the music, nothing to do with the 'punk scene' and it certainly has jack shit to do with people knowing that the Ramones are a band! Retail buyers and designers purchase and design what people will buy, that's how they pay the bills! If some 12 y/o teenybopper wants to wear a shirt that I'm making dough off, she can go right ahead!!!!! And you'd be crazy to disagree. |

yea i got my back up bitch
face the denial don't worry, it happens to the best of us....just one up your style, or 5 up it i dunno you;re lacking...just step up and be on top that's how it is roof woof i love bluenotes and such cause they're like the white flag that such style is on its last breathe |

^ yeah but you know what the funny thing is
style is what you make it. like if you have a good sense of fashion, even the ugliest shit can look fuckign DOPE if you rock it right you know what i mean kell but if you suck at dressing even the "trendiest" shit looks reeeeeeeeeetarded, like highschool girls styles :) |

^ yeah
that totally brings me back to my tna/lululemon tracksuit, nike shox, von dutch hat, lv/burberry bag analogy each of those items are cute and trendy on their own (or were, now they're kinda played...but stay with me), but when you throw them all together you look like one big confused fashion victim! Like please, a designer bag has no place in a casual outfit! You could totally pull off a designer wallet, change purse, or organizer, but otherwise, PLEASE NO! (please refer to my signature quote) |
