i just got an email form my boss, and it looks like the lifegaurds are steppin outta work on monday too which means my kids wont get to go to their swim practice. for some kids this is the one thing they look forward to in the day. for some kids, its the only place they fit in. for some kids its their escapism, and for nothing they did, its being taken away from them.
this is absolutely rediculous. unions were started to ensure safe working places, and wages that can support someone. now unions have become this monster so as people can make stupid demands. it seems that unions have become about the person not the society. unions have provided people with a high living standard, and now because they dont want to be uncomfertable its being taken away. take the pay cut. please. my heart is broken for those kids. i cant believe its come to taking away childrens activities. all this strikin is doing is helping the gov;t out. alot of voters are getting pissed off at the unions, and are therefore supporting the gov't. and i realize the gov't is the bad guy here, but this is just awful. |

I don't care how this affects me, I support the union 100%.
The 15% cut in pay is retroactive to April 1st. That means those people have to pay back the gov't the money they earned between then and now. For all of you whining about this, you'd be doing the exact same thing if you were in that position. I'm so glad I have the option to get the fuck out of this province next year. |

as i said in the other thread, the liberals are trying their damdest to clean up after the ndp. they left a big pile of shit.
also, unions are not a good thing in non-3rd world countires. unions were made to ensure safe working conditions, and that people had enough money to live off of. but now that we have developed, we have something called minimum wage, and our working conditions are not bad. (disagree? check out the working conditions in a hospital in africa then get back to me) im sorry that ya'll got comfertable with your bigger wages, and now you havve to take a step down from the comforts of your new living conditions, but its sad to see that the union has become about the person and not about the people. and im really glad to see how compassionate all these nurses and hospital workers are about the patients and their job. |

Wow lots of liberal love on this thread. Personally i agree with the strike because its showing support for the health care workers. Our health care is supposed to be our number 1 priority in bc and it just got fucked over.If u ask me Campbell's new bill was rather dictatorship like. Fuck that old bill that gave these workers rights lets all vote to get them back to work, take a paycut and not let them strike. Then again why cant they do what the feel like when their only 2 rival party members in the legislature. My mom works as a care-aid and shes gotten less hours and had her hourly wages reduced. Now some may say well sorry u got comfortable with making decent money and then compare us with africa. Why the fuck would u do that. Yeah ok compare us but thing is were not in africa and if we were to compare ourselves with a country in our economic level why not the states. Yeah fucking buses are going on strike damnit now i have to find an alternative route. But its for a good fucking reason. If Campbell did what he did to the health care workers whose to say he wont do it to other workers after, i.e. your teachers, your translink employees etc etc. Gotta love your modern day revolutions.

Fuck, that means I aint got no ride to work, well, that's just great, and because my supervisors at work are utter dumbasses, they will think I'm just doing a no-show and write me up for it...not only that, but I dont get paid for work if I dont show up...rawr!
