No transit service in Vancouver on Monday
VANCOUVER/ CKNW (AM980) -- There will be no transit service in Greater Vancouver on Monday. Public transit will grind to a halt with the first bus, Skytrain, or Seabus on Monday morning.
More than 3,300 members of the Canadian Auto Workers Union have decided to launch what it calls a "Day of Democracy" to support health care workers and to protest government legislation to force those workers back to work. CAW local President Don McLeod says the plan, so far, is for a one day walk-out - but McLeod is not ruling out anything and says members will leave their options open in case they want to continue the job action. Those who normally rely on public transit to commute will be scrambling to find alternate methods of transportation. http://www.cknw.com/news/news_local.cfm?item=9005&c=1 |

AHaahaha i am lucky. i work close to home.. however there are many i have talked to on transit.. that are not too happy.. more than 80,000+ ppl rely on the busses and trains a day thats alot.. i think the number is a little bigger.. but that was in the province when they had the strike a year or 2 ago..

i believe the unions who are supporting the heu are strking for only a day at a time and they will take turns. with the school board my mom says that they will most likely strike at certain schools on different days, as to not put everyone outta a place to go at once.
this is getting rediculous. now i have to walk to work, which starts at 6:30 am. ew. and im gonna be walking past the picket lines of the heu.... im gonna be sure to tell them how i feel. |

I drive with a middle finger raised most of my trip to work.
then I get harassed by union workers with loud speakers and signs saying 'SUPPORT THE UNION' in front of the parking lot at work. fuck em. Sidekick; get those t-shirts arranged. |

I will be funcking screwed with work on monday or what ever I need to do that day...
BUT I SUPORT THIS STRIKE 1000% and I think all of you kids should too. If any of you want any hope of one day getting a union job/benifets/decent fair sallery or want to be treated well in your future/curent future... I highly sugest you take the day off and support witht the rest of the provinces union workers!!! Im not apart of CUPE yet... but I think ill join the schools on monday for sake of my future. And for ignorant crist sake... stop blamming the workers fighting for healthy job security and point your finger at Gordan Cambal for once would you? OR at least think about it please...
